DON PAULY (5) finally gets a decent draw and can settle closer to the pace without using up too much energy early on. His last couple of efforts have been near enough, and with the aid of a kilo claim, he can show some good form again. Stick with him. VILLASANTI (1) was an overdue maiden winner here in his penultimate start, and then was a game third in his first run at this level 2 weeks ago. He has yet to miss a cheque in 11 career starts, and has to be respected again. O'RIORDAN (7) has yet to show up in the South Island, but has been near enough. He has been given plenty of time to get over her last effort, and on a likely wet track, she will be among the hardest to beat in an even field like this. SAUVAGE (4) caught the eye late here 5 weeks ago, so don't risk him. Top 4 value.
