RUSSIAN BLUES (4) was an overdue maiden winner here just over a fortnight ago over 1400m when well-ridden by Kendra Bakker who will retain the mount here. She cops a tougher gate this time, but has plenty of scope, and can repeat the dose. CAPTAIN ROY (1) did not take long to break through for his first win since relocating from the North Island earlier in the year, winning at only his second start here 4 weeks ago. The step up from 1200m to 1400m is ideal, and his next win is not far way. PERSONA (3) is an honest mare resuming from a spell, and she is normally thereabouts when fit. She has not had any public trials, but is in good hands, and any market support would be worth following. RED LABEL (7) was less than a length from the winner in fourth place here last time out, and with the advantage of the pole position, she can figure in the top 4 again. MIRAQUA (8) has been out of form, but from a good draw, he can be one to bolster any top 4 combinations.
