RUFUS (3) has relocated to the South Island after not having much luck in 3 starts last prep in the North. He is bred to need some time, and he will be resuming over a mile, which suggests that he has not missed any work since his last run. Any market confidence must be respected. HEARTBREAKER (2) has needed racing, and his form is improving with each run, including his last start third as the favourite here over 1600m a fortnight ago. He does get back in the running, which is not always helpful, but off a genuine tempo, he can have the last say here. WARRIOR BOY (4) improved quickly from a fair effort on debut at Wingatui to finishing a bold runner-up by a neck on this circuit 2 weeks ago, both times over this trip. A wide gate is no help, but his first win is not far away. BAGGIO (5) left his run too late here over 1400m last time out, and the extra 200m is ideal. He is likely to get back again from his wide gate, but if the gaps come, he can dash into the top 4. FLYING ANGEL (14)
