This meet was set down for Sunday but the rain came and the Moonee Valley of the North became the Maribyrnong River of the North. So, the BOM is forecasting anything from 15 to 49 mil in total to fall on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday with a fine day for raceday. How wet will the track remain? Only time will tell. Kick things off with an 800m 3yo maiden. No's 1,2,3,11 likely to settle forward. The resuming JEANS creates plenty of interest, both 3rds were sound efforts. Trialed 2nd in prep for this campaign. B1st here. The resuming LADIES OCEAN RUN was a forgive on debut, never on the track. She won her trial in prep for this return. She was my top pick, now ineligible. Re the newcomers KAIPAKI ROAD has trialed four times, twice placing on soft tracks, but hasn't been seen in public since mid September. THAT'S A BEAUTY trialed just once, finished 4th on a good track but that was back in October. This opening event has all the feels of respect the betting.
