VOLUNTEER (7) stepped up to a middle distance for the first time at Te Rapa nearly a month ago and bounced back into some good form by finishing a sound third. The track was too firm for him prior, and with wet conditions, he will be competitive again. THE EXPONENT (4) charged late through the pack to finish runner-up by a neck here 4 weeks ago. He is strong enough now to cope with a middle distance, and he is nicely poised to go one better in this. WAR OF SUCCESSION (1) loves the track here, and he fought hard when finishing third as the favourite at Arawa Park just over 3 weeks ago. He has won here over this trip in the past, and he is peaking at the right time. Can win. UP THE ANTI (3) was beaten by half-a-length when finishing fifth at Te Rapa, following on from a tough Otaki win before that. He races well here, and he should be right in the finish again. CHARLBURY (10) has yet to really fire on this track, but she does prefer racing in a clockwise direction. Each way value.
