MALMAISON (3) has not won for some time, and is heading the right way with his form since relocating to the South Island arm of the Walker/Bergerson stables. He was less than a length from the winner when finishing third at Riccarton last time out, and with a drop down in class, he is the one to beat in this. BOSS 'N' HIGHHEELS (13) makes her South Island debut from the astute Terri Rae stable, who presented her to win a recent Timaru trial by 2 lengths. She is nicely placed at the weight here and will be ready to rumble. PALACE PRINCESS (7) was back in winning form at Kurow when leading all the way to score by well over 3 lengths. She cops a tougher gate this time, but if she can find the front early, then she will again take some pegging back. VICTORIAN CHARM (2) will find this easier than his last start in the Timaru Stakes nearly 4 weeks ago, and he should be close to his peak fitness third up from a spell. Each way value. SPARTAN (1) shows pace and draws the ace gate. SAKO (5)
