PATCH OF STARS (4) couldn't bring up the hat-trick last start over this course and distance, beaten 2.3L. He's been back to the trials since that effort where he looks back on song. Can sit much closer than he did last start, Purton sticks and he can return to winning ways. PACKING ANGEL (5) hasn't raced since the HK Derby nearly 12 months ago. He's has plenty of trials since then in readiness for this with Hewitson sticking from his latest outing. This is just a kickoff point, but it's a suitable race and he can play a leading role. INVINCIBLE SHIELD (1) disappointed when out to 1400m last time out. Back to this trip suits and the inside barrier is a big tick for his chances. Carries the top weight, but he can bounce back to his best. SWIFT ASCEND (10) is knocking on the door of a drought breaking win and is not to be discounted.
