15/02/2023|SB Staff| UFC Tips & Predictions

After an absolute monster of a card in UFC 284 – the UFC returns to its home of Las Vegas to host UFC Fight Night 219, where Jessica Andrade will face Erin Blanchfield in what could be the fight that determines the next challenger for the flyweight title.

We’ve analysed the upcoming fights this Sunday and put together our UFC tips of the day.

Enjoy the fights and remember to gamble responsibly.

Jim Miller vs Alexander Hernandez

UFC Stalwart Jim Miller will be making his 41st career appearance in the Octagon this Sunday, as he meets the struggling Alexander Hernandez, who’s returning to lightweight after a brief stint down in featherweight where he was finished in the 2nd round by Billy Quarantillo via TKO.

Hernandez is hoping he can find his winning form against an ageing Miller who’s having a career resurgence, with a 3-win streak to his name.

Hard to look past the experience of Jim Miller here.

Tip: Jim Miller to Win

Josh Parisian vs Jamal Pogues

It’s a battle of the big dogs as Josh Parisian (15-5) clashes with Jamal Pogues (9-3) in this heavyweight bout.

This is Pogues first UFC appearance, and he’s going against a guy who loves to go hard and fast. 8 of Parisian’s 11 TKO wins have been in the first round, while Pogues likes to go the distance, winning his last 3 fights by Decision.

If Pogues can survive till the second round, then he should walk away with a win.

Tip: Jamal Pogues by Decision

Jordan Wright vs Zac Pauga

Jordan Wright is on a 3-fight losing streak (all in the middleweight division) and has moved up to light heavyweight in the hopes a few extra kg’s of muscle will change his fortune.

“The Beverley Hills Ninja” as he’s known will be going toe to toe with Zac “The Ripper” Pauga, who made it in to the final of the recent season of Ultimate Fighter as a heavyweight where he was finished in the final. He has now returned to 205lbs where he went 5-0 before making his reality TV debut.

Tip: Zac Pauga to Win

Jessica Andrade vs Erin Blanchfield

The main event of the evening sees the Brazilian, Jessica “Bata Estaca” Andrade take on Erin “Cold Blooded” Blanchfield.

At only 23 years old, Blanchfield is going to face her toughest opponent yet in the form of Andrade, the former Strawweight champion and UFC veteran. While Andrade’s ability is well known, Blanchfield enters this fight as a bit of a wild card. She has only had 4 fights in the UFC (she’s won all of them) and only lost once in her 11-fight career during her time at Invicta.

This will be the first time Blanchfield enters the Octagon for 5 Rounds, while this will be Andrade’s 5th. All four of Andrade’s 5 Round fights have finished in the second round, winning 2 and losing 2.

We don’t think this one will go the distance given the history, and experience over potential will be the victor.

Tip: Jessica Andrade win by KO

Not avaliable in SA.
