Dricus Du Plessis vs Sean Strickland Prediction

The main reason the masses will flock to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday, what a headline fight we have here.

Old foes Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland are set to go at it again after an entertaining five round battle last year, in which Du Plessis got the nod by split decision.

During their first fight. Stickland's jab & teep-heavy game proved a difficult puzzle for Du Plessis to solve, but Dricus was able to overcome this by implementing an aggressive, high-pressure game that kept Sean fighting off the backfoot for most of the match.

Fast forward to this weekend and the winner of this fight will be the guy who has managed to evolve more.

Du Plessis has consistently proven that he is that guy as he's progressed throughout his UFC career.

We expect Dricus to force the pace again behind a kick-heavy game, while mixing in his grappling when called for, leading to a similar result to their first confrontation.

Prediction: Dricus Du Plessis.

Method of victory betting tip: Unanimous decision.

Zhang Weili vs Tatiana Suarez Prediction

After surging through the UFC ranks over the last couple of years, has the undefeated Tatiana Suarez finally met her match?

Zhang Weili is as tough as they come in this division and make no mistake Suarez will know fully well, she is about to come up against one of the most dynamic strikers in the women’s game.

For Tatiana, her game plan is quite clear, get this on the canvas. No doubt she look to mix in some striking during the early exchanges, but the sooner she can find an opening, start grappling and get this on the floor, the sooner she will be able to dictate the flow of the fight.

Obviously, this means Weili will want to keep this on the feet., where her explosive and superior striking can shine.

If you’re looking for a tip for this fight, look no further than Suarez’s last matchup, which was against Jessica Andrade.

Andrade is seen as one of the division's other most explosive strikers and Suarez was able to submit her within just two rounds. Weili beware.

Prediction: Tatiana Suarez.

Method of victory betting tip: Submission in round 4.

Jimmy Crute vs Rodolfo Bellato Prediction

Time to turn our attention to an Aussie or two, seeing as UFC 312 is going down Down Under.

Fighting on the main card is local legend Jimmy Crute who will be making his return to the octagon after essentially semi-retiring post his heart-wrenching defeat to Alonzo Menifield back in mid-2023.

Crute has a record of 0-3 (+1 draw) in his last four fights - however closer inspection of this run shows the level of talent he's been duking it out with. His opponents during this time consisted of Anthony Smith, Jamahal Hill and Alonzo Menifield to name a few.

His opponent on Sunday on the other hand, Rodolfo Bellato, is riding a four fight win streak, with his latest win being his UFC debut against Ihor Poteiria, where he picked up an impressive second round finish.

Bellato is the betting favourite given his current form run - however, we expect Jimmy's experience against some of the top shelf light-heavyweights to prove invaluable, particularly when coupled with his ever-present grappling threat.

Prediction: Jimmy Crute.

Method of victory betting tip: Round 3 KO/TKO.

Jake Matthews vs Francisco Prado Prediction

Another Aussie fan favourite, Jake Matthews returns to the octagon at UFC 312 and as a strong favourite against 22-year-old Francisco Prado.

Prado has already made a strong impact just three fights into his UFC tenure, with a KO over Ottman Azaitar and a highly competitive loss to Daniel Zellhuber, which was awarded fight of the night.

Circling back to Matthews, he has now been with the UFC for over 10 years, with fights against the likes of Kevin Lee, Jingliang Li, Sean Brady and Michael Morales under his belt.

While the much younger Prado will present a strong, aggressive style, Matthews has had the chance to round out his game whilst fighting among the cream of the crop during his decade long association with the UFC.

With the home crowd behind him, we expect the more experienced Matthews to have all the answers for his up-and-coming opponent.

Prediction: Jake Matthew.

Method of victory betting tip: Unanimous decision.
