The 2025 Wuhan Open is one of the final WTA events on the tennis calendar, and Aryna Sabalenka is expected to make an appearance.

She has been on a break since her title win at the 2025 US Open, but it is believed she will be competing at the event for which she is the reigning champion. In 2024, she defeated Qinwen Zheng 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Still, many of her rivals have been in action more recently, as many have been playing in the 2025 China Open in Beijing. So, will Sabalenka have enough to claim victory, or will someone else take the title away from her when the WTA event starts on October 6 (AEST TBD)?

Women’s 2025 Wuhan Open Betting Preview

Having covered Sabalenka briefly, which female stars are going to be among those who could challenge her?

Iga Swiatek is a notable name, as the Pole continues to make her way back to the top of the rankings. She has had a mixed year in terms of results, winning Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Open, but losing in the semis or quarters in other major tournaments and Grand Slams.

She might not be in the best form currently, having been knocked out of the 2025 China Open in the fourth round (by Emma Navarro). Still, she’s someone to keep an eye on.

Coco Gauff continues to be consistent and a threat, as is Amanda Anisimova after a solid 2025.

What about ‘dark horses’? Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini are definitely two names to keep a close eye on.

Pegula reached the semi-final of the US Open before being eliminated by Sabalenka. She beat Swiatek at the Hamburg Open in the final. However, her performances are erratic (she was eliminated at Wimbledon in the first round), which makes her someone with potential upside.

Paolini is another emerging star on the WTA Tour. Again, she’s a little similar to Pegula with results, having had final appearances, but early exits have also followed.

We won’t see Madison Keys or Elina Svitolina, though, as both are confirmed withdrawals.

Women’s 2025 Wuhan Open Betting Predictions

We wouldn’t be shocked if we saw Sabalenka defend her title, even though she’s had some time away from the sport. She’ll have enjoyed the rest and be ready to compete.

If we’re looking for value, we could consider an each-way bet, as we think there could be value in backing Guaff. She has been in good form recently and has solid form in China. She won the 2024 China Open and played the recent edition with solid displays. She has recently reached multiple semifinals and finals.

Alternatively, it could be worth backing Pegula as a ‘dark horse’ and potential outsider. She has been in strong form over her last couple of WTA events, as detailed above.
