Washington DC Open Men’s Prediction

An ATP 500 event, the Washington DC Open is next on the calendar for the world’s best male tennis players, with the event serving up as a warm-up for the final Grand Slam of the season.

Played at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park, the event, which gets underway on July 27, will take place on the same hard-court surface as the US Open, giving players an opportunity to get to grips ahead of that final major.

Quick Picks

Our pick: De Minaur to win

Value bet: Auger-Aliassime to win

Long shot: Medvedev to win

Betting Preview

Among the confirmed participants for this year’s Washington DC Open is defending champion Alex De Minaur, who defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). The Aussie has been in good form this year, winning one title and going 27-14 as the number 5 player on the ATP Tour.

North Americans Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Learner Tien, Ben Shelton (wild card), and Taylor Fritz will challenge him for his title this year, as will Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Kei Nishikori, who is a former champion and in his final season on the tour.

English star Jack Draper was handed a wild card, and his participation remains to be seen after pulling out of Wimbledon following a recurrence of a left-arm injury that has stalled his promising career.

Betting Markets to Watch

Given his status as the current champion, De Minaur will have value to be the winner of the 2026 Washington DC Open. He is very competent on hard courts, having amassed a career record of 287-153 (65.2%). His title win this year also came on this surface, winning in Rotterdam.

He defeated Auger-Aliassime, who will also have value to win this year’s ATP 500 event. The Canadian is sat at 4 in the ATP rankings and has a strong record on this surface, going 244-141 (63.4%) over his career. He won the Montpellier Open in February, before being beaten in the final by De Minaur in Rotterdam and Medvedev in the semis of the Dubai Open a few weeks later.

Medvedev is historically strong on North American courts, too, with his flat baseline style and return game typically suiting the medium‑fast outdoor hard courts played on across America.

Our Prediction

You can check out all of the latest tennis betting odds at Sportsbet. Our prediction is that De Minaur likely retains his Washington DC Open title at this ATP 500 event.

Our long shot is for Medvedev to win. He has struggled this year (despite being 37-14 (72.5%) on this surface over the last 52 weeks) to finish off his opponents. Still, he has a positive record that is too hard to ignore, including a final appearance at Indian Wells earlier in the year.
