There may not be any more Grand Slams to be played on the 2025 calendar, but that doesn’t mean competitive tennis has come to a stop.

The 2025 Shanghai Masters is a prime example of another major tennis tournament scheduled to be played, with the prize money standing at US$9,193,538 (approximately AUD$1,400,000).

Qualifying rounds start on Monday, September 29, from 14:00 AEST. Still, the main action doesn’t get underway until later in the week, with seeded players receiving a bye into the second round of the event.

If you are interested in understanding the markets available and discovering how to find potential value opportunities, make sure you read our guide on how to bet on tennis. There, we’ve included everything you need to read our tennis betting tips and decide whether you want to support our analysts’ predictions or not.

Men’s 2025 Shanghai Masters Betting Preview

When we look back at what happened last year, Jannik Sinner managed to claim the title by defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. The Italian defeated the Serbian 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. He was exceptional throughout the competition, dropping just one set across six matches.

It will be his second tournament since his US Open final loss to Carlos Alcaraz, who will also be involved in this year’s event. The world’s number 1 will be participating in his third event since winning his second US Open title, having defeated Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. The Spaniard is another who has been exceptional when playing on the hard courts.

However, he struggled at last year’s Shanghai Masters, as he only reached the quarter-finals. He was defeated by Tomáš Macháč, whom Sinner subsequently beat in the semi-finals.

A host of other top players from the ATP Tour will be involved in this year’s competition, including Aussies Alex de Minaur (7 seed), Adam Walton, and Christopher O'Connell. The latter two are replacements for Jacob Fearnley and Gaël Monfils, respectively. Alexei Popyrin has withdrawn from the event.

There will also be some top players who will be absent from this year’s competition through injury. Jack Draper (arm), Tommy Paul (foot), Grigor Dimitrov (pectoral), and Arthur Fils (back) will all miss out.

Men’s 2025 Shanghai Masters Betting Predictions

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sinner and Alcaraz as the leading names in the betting odds for the Men’s 2025 Shanghai Masters. Both have been in good form over the course of the calendar year, especially in the few tournaments played since their US Open final meeting.

However, it may be worth considering an each-way bet for this competition, especially given the way brackets can be formed, with seeded players receiving a bye and entering the second round.

Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, and Djokovic are all viable “each-way” options given their historical pedigree and current top-10 status. Medvedev, in particular, thrives on these conditions and will be looking to find his form after an incredibly disappointing 2025.

For prop bets, it could be worth looking at the ‘Set Betting’ market. Stats from last year show 67% of matches were won in straight sets. “Player to win 2-0” bets or “match to go under 2.5 sets” can offer value.
