UEFA Women’s 2025 Euros - England vs Italy Betting Predictions: Who Will Reach The Final?
England and Italy will face each other for a place in the final of the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championships.
England managed to reach the semi-final stage with plenty of fortune when they defeated Sweden in the previous stage of the competition. It was an eventful game that went all the way, with a tense, nervous and at times bizarre penalty shootout required.
For Italy, a late strike from Cristiana Girelli with her second of the game secured their victory over Norway a day earlier to seal their place.
When the two teams meet at the Stade de Genève on Wednesday (06:00 AEST), what should we expect from the pair of them?
England vs Italy Betting Preview
England’s place in the semi-finals looked far from assured at one stage. In fact, they looked to be heading out if it weren’t for a game-changing performance from Chloe Kelly. She was brought on to the pitch and, within moments, she helped turn the game from a 2-0 lead for Sweden to a 2-2 draw.
Lucy Bronze was found at the back post with a cross to score a header before Michelle Agyemang netted a goalmouth scramble to send the game into extra time. A tense penalty shootout ensued, which England won 3-2 after nine penalties were either saved or missed the target.
The victory followed on from their group stage performance, where they managed to record the following results:
1-2 vs France (Walsh)
4-0 vs Netherlands (James 2, Stanway, Toone)
6-1 vs Wales (Stanway, Toone, Hemp, Russo, Mead, Beever-Jones)
Italy had a less eventful game against Norway, but they still needed a late effort to advance. Cristiana Girelli was their star of the game, as she netted twice to take her tally to three for the tournament after scoring in the match against Portugal.
They’ve not been the most prolific in the tournament, but they’ve kept goals conceded to a minimum, which makes them just as dangerous. In the group stage, they achieved the following results:
1-0 vs Belgium (Caruso)
1-1 vs Portugal (Girelli)
1-3 vs Spain (Oliviero)
England vs Italy Betting Predictions
The latest England (W) vs Italy (W) betting odds have the Lionesses the big favourites heading into this semi-final encounter. The past H2H perhaps highlights why, as England have won six of the nine meetings between them. Italy have two victories, with one draw.
The last meeting between the two was in 2024, when England won 5-1. Could we see that happen again? Italy looks improved, which makes the ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ in the ‘Over/Under 2.5 Goals' market look appealing as a potential value bet.
As an extension, the ‘No’ for ‘Both Teams to Score’ market also looks good value, as we’d expect to see England be more defensively solid after a disappointing performance against Sweden and aim to keep Italy quiet.
