Premier League Matchweek 10 Prediction and Betting Odds

EPL Matchweek 10

There was plenty of action in week nine of the English Premier League – including an impressive win for Arsenal over Liverpool at Anfield, and Manchester United’s continued struggles.

Now, it’s time for MW10. And while none of the heavyweights are facing up against each other this week, there are plenty of interesting fixtures on the schedule.

Can Tottenham continue their impressive form away at Leeds after a shocking start to the season? Can Brighton keep upsetting the odds and push hard towards the top of the table?

And will Manchester City return to winning ways after two defeats on the bounce?

Quick Picks

Our pick: Brighton win

Value bet: Manchester United vs Aston Villa Draw

Long shot: Liverpool Over 3.5 Goals

Betting Markets to Watch

Brighton are certainly the surprise package of the English Premier League so far this season.

While respected as an established PL club capable of pushing towards the European places again this season, few would have had them in the top three of the league at this point.

And it’s not by luck. This is a well-drilled side capable of pushing the very best clubs in the league.

Current league leaders Arsenal found that out when they got whipped 3-0 by Brighton in September, while second placed Manchester City were beaten 1-0 at home by them last time out.

And we see no reason why that form won’t continue. While Brighton v Brentford might not sound a classic, this is a match up featuring two sides playing some of the best football in the league at the moment.

We see another Brighton win on the cards. Fabian Hurzeler has his side purring, with Brighton currently the top scorers in the league by some margin. Expect Greek striker Charalampos Kostoulas to score.

Elsewhere, Manchester United v Aston Villa looks particularly mouthwatering, particularly after United’s 3-2 comeback win against Roma in the Champions League in midweek.

Prior to that result, you would have maybe expected to see Villa walk away from old Trafford with all three points.

But United will have something of a spring in their step after finding another gear in the second-half after going into the break 2-0 down. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and two from Matheus Cunha turned things around.

And while they may be in poor form in the league, they may see that as a springboard and be much tougher for Villa, who just don’t do well at Old Trafford. In fact, United have only lost twice in 31 Premier League home matches against Villa.

While we don’t see them strong enough to beat Villa, who saw Manchester City off 2-1 earlier in the season, a draw has value here.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace v Liverpool pitches two clubs in contrasting form. Palace head into the clash in the relegation places after three defeats on the bounce in which they haven’t scored a goal and conceded nine.

Liverpool, however, seem to have found their feet under Andoni Iraola. And they’re decent on the road this season too, winning their last three games away from Anfield.

The last time these two met, Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners. With confidence seeping back into the Reds, and draining from the Eagles, the goals market may offer value here, rather than just a Liverpool win.

We expect Alexander Isak to find the net again. The Swede has six goals in eight league games so far, and it wouldn’t be a surprise for Liverpool to run riot here.

Our Prediction

Our top prediction for the EPL MW9 round of fixtures is victory for Brighton against Brentford. Brentford have built up a confident head of steam so far, and should have too much at home for the Bees.

Manchester United v Aston Villa could be one that is tough to separate. While United haven’t been in the best form, a European confidence booster could work in their favour, and so a draw may have value.

And for a long shot, we expect over 3.5 goals in the Crystal Palace v Liverpool showdown.
