Latvia and England have already played each other once during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying competition, although that game was just over six months ago.

In fact, it was one of Thomas Tuchel’s first games in charge of the Three Lions, as he guided them to a 3-0 victory at Wembley. Reece James, Harry Kane, and Eberechi Eze were all on the scoresheet for that encounter as it set them on their way to lead the group.

Latvia have struggled in Group K, as they’ve only had a win and a draw in their five games (prior to their meeting with Andorra on Saturday). It’s perhaps for this reason why nobody is giving them a chance when the two nations meet on Wednesday, October 15, at 04:45 AEST at the Daugava Stadium in Riga…

Latvia vs England Betting Preview

Of course, the difference in quality on the pitch will also be a big factor in why England is perceived to be a big victor when these two sides meet. Tuchel will have many stars at his disposal, with many having won some of the biggest honours in club football.

Paolo Nicolato will have some of his own players he can rely on to perform for Latvia, but none are arguably at the level of those England boasts. Vladislavs Gutkovskis is worth watching, though.

In that 3-0 win back in March, England dominated from start to finish. They had 27 shots on goal (compared to Latvia’s three), with eight attempts on target (one from Latvia). They controlled the ball, having 74% possession, and completed 94% of their passes accurately.

Since Tuchel took over, they have lost just one game (against Senegal in a friendly) and have bossed Group K. They’ve scored 13 goals in five World Cup qualifier games and have yet to concede a goal. In comparison, Latvia have scored just twice in their five games, conceding six times.

The match in March is the only time the two nations have faced each other, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if we were to witness a similarly dominant performance again.

Latvia vs England Betting Predictions

If you’re looking for the latest Latvia vs England betting odds, you’ll find that England’s price is extremely short. Indeed, we’re expecting England to win this game and do so comfortably.

Not involved in the recent 3-0 friendly win against Wales, Harry Kane is a good ‘Anytime Goalscorer’ bet for this game. The Bayern striker has been prolific under Tuchel, scoring five in six appearances. He has 11 Bundesliga goals in six games so far this season, so expect him to score in Riga.

In addition, we think there is value in backing the ‘Over’ in the ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market. It has hit in 50% of the games Tuchel has been in charge, with one of those being against Latvia.
