The Spanish La Liga continues to appeal to bettors, with clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid continuing to boast some of the best players in the world.

Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, and Vinicius Jr are just some of the names that can be thought of off the top of the head immediately, although both clubs boast many superstars. However, La Liga isn’t just about those two powerhouses.

Atletico Madrid have proven to be a force in recent years, while others are slowly improving to try and close the gap at the top, leading many to believe the league could be hard fought this season.

La Liga Betting Preview

Still, is the La Liga title race still a two-horse race?

FC Barcelona will be looking to defend the title they won in Hansi Flick’s debut season in charge of Blaugrana. The Catalans secured the 2024/25 title by four points, having secured two additional wins over their El Clasico rivals, who missed out due to two draws. Both had lost six games throughout the season, as did Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Joan Garcia has arrived as a new goalkeeper after impressing for Espanyol. However, Wojciech Szczęsny could be the number 1 again. Marcus Rashford will be aiming to revive his career as he joins on loan from Manchester United after a spell with Aston Villa. He could team with Yamal and Lewandowski to create a real attacking threat that is clinical and pacy. But, did you see his shocking open goal miss against Como in preseason?

Real Madrid has made moves to strengthen the team this offseason, with Xabi Alonso arriving as manager from Bayer Leverkusen to replace Carlo Ancelotti (Brazil). The backline has seen the most changes, with Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth), and Alvaro Carreras (Benfica) all arriving. Gonzalo Garcia made himself known during the FIFA Club World Cup with his goals, and could prove to be a difference-maker alongside Mbappe.

La Liga Betting Predictions

According to the latest La Liga betting odds, a two-horse race is what is expected when it comes to the race for the title.

Real Madrid are considered the favourites heading into the 2025/26 campaign. Barcelona are just behind them, making it an interesting market for bettors. Indeed, it would be hard to go against Los Blancos, though, as they have a nice mixture of youth and experience, with their superstars likely to be hurting after a disappointing year that ended without a major trophy.

Value might be available in the ‘Without Barcelona or Real Madrid’ market, although Atletico Madrid remain extremely short in the odds. They’ve made significant signings this summer, which could make them a dark horse in the title betting. Álex Baena, Dávid Hancko, Johnny Cardoso, and Thiago Almada all join a team that features quality, so they might be a team to watch.
