For the longest time the amount female soccer players get paid has been the source of much debate.

The impact women’s soccer has had on the global sporting landscape in recent times is plain to see, no more so than in Australia.

You only have to look at the success of the recent Women’s World Cup that was hosted Down Under and the sell-out crowds it attracted.

There’s no two ways about it, women’s soccer is on the rise and so are the players’ salaries.

Just how much do the top female players in the top leagues in America, England and Europe take home a year?

Let’s find out! Here is a list of the highest paid women's soccer players as of 2024.

10. Trinity Rodman – $445k

Despite being the daughter of an NBA legend, Trinity Rodman has managed to make a name all for herself.

Nepotism can only get you so far in the sporting world and you can tell by her talents that Rodman is a self-made woman.

She became the youngest drafted player in NWSL history and won both the Rookie of the Year and the U.S Soccer Young Female Player of the Year awards following her first full season in the NWSL.

She is now one of the highest paid female soccer players in the world and still just 21 years old, is only going to get better and better. Worth every penny if you ask us.

9. Christine Sinclair – $600k

A veteran of the women’s game, even in the twilight of her career, Christine Sinclair is bringing home the bacon.

The Canadian legend has had one of the most decorated and prolific careers in the history of women’s soccer, especially at international level.

Before her international retirement last year, Sinclair played for the Canadian national team for two decades.

She has featured and scored at five World Cups and her total of 190 international goals is the most in history of any player, both male and female.

8. Wendie Renard – $620k

Much like Christine Sinclair, Wendie Renard is one of the most decorated women's football players of all time, as well as being one of the highest paid.

She is the current captain of both her club Lyon and her country France. She won 14 consecutive league titles from 2006 to 2020 as well as winning seven Champions League titles.

7. Amandine Henry – $625k

Serving alongside Renard as a stalwart of the French national team and appearing alongside her on this list is Amandine Henry.

She currently plies her trade in the US with Angel City FC and will go down in history as one of the finest midfielders of her generation.

6. Marta – $670k

Arguably the greatest female soccer player of all-time, despite now being 38, Brazilian legend Marta is still one of the highest paid too.

She’s done it all and now playing for the Orlando Pride in the NWSL she still takes home a pretty penny.

Her career has played out like a football fairytale. She has won six FIFA Player of the Year awards (five consecutively), is Brazil’s top goal scorer and holds the record for the most World Cup goals of all time, male or female.

After being the face of the women’s game for so long Marta has more than earned the pay packet that lands her on this list.

5. Ada Hegerberg – $690k

When you hold the record for the most goals in Women’s Champions League history, it should be no surprise that you are also one of the highest paid female soccer players on the planet.

Norwegian superstar Ada Hegerberg is widely considered to be one of the best players in the world at the moment and rightfully takes her place among the biggest earners in women’s soccer.

4. Alex Morgan – $730k

One of the most recognizable female footballers of all-time, Alex Morgan has played over 200 times for her country, scoring more than 100 goals.

The American striker has appeared on the front cover of FIFA alongside Lionel Messi and has been named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People twice. It’s no surprise to see her this high up our list.

3. Keira Walsh – $780k

After helping England win the 2022 Euro Final, in which she was named player of the match, Keira Walsh earned herself a transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona that at the time was a world record fee.

The salary matched the fee and Walsh now finds herself as one of the highest paid female soccer players in the world.

Barca’s investment in Walsh produced instant dividends, as they went on to win the league, Supercopa and Champions League in her first season at the club.

Still only 26, there is no limit to what this Lioness can achieve.

2. Sam Kerr – $810k

It’s no surprise to see our very own Sam Kerr near the top of this list. As well as being a national hero, she is one of the best players on the planet and regularly stars for Chelsea in the WSL.

She’s come within a whisker of winning the Ballon d’Or Feminin on multiple occasions, so you’d think it’s only a matter of time before she is finally anointed the best female player on the planet, injuries permitting.

The Aussie superstar is the only female player in history to have won the Golden Boot in three different leagues (W-League, NWSL and WSL). She is also the all-time leading scorer for the Matildas and the all-time leading goal scorer in the NWSL, despite not having played there since 2019.

Kerr is not just one of the highest earning and most revered female soccer players on the planet, she is also regarded as one of Australia’s greatest ever athletes.

She is widely considered to be the greatest female footballer of her generation and is credited with helping revolutionize the women’s game. Putellas is also the highest paid women's soccer player in 2024.
