FA Cup Final Tips & Predictions

22/05/2024|SB Staff|Soccer Tips & Predictions

Welcome to Sportsbet’s FA Cup Final tips & predictions!

With the dust barely settling on City’s celebrations after they secured a fourth straight Premier League title, the attention quickly turns to filling the trophy cabinet again.

This time at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final. The Citizens made it to the final by beating Chelsea in the semis and they must be high on confidence.

But who is standing in their way? Their bitter rivals from across the town in Manchester United, who advanced through to the final after getting past Coventry in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Yes, for the second successive season, it is a Manchester derby to decide the FA Cup.

The Red Devils will be looking to end their season on a high, by bringing home their 13th FA Cup trophy, but they will have a mountain to climb to achieve the feat.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Predicted Lineups

City boss Pep Guardiola has a smorgasboard to choose from with many key players backing up from last Sunday to be available for the decider.

Adding to Guardiola’s selection crunch is Dutchman Nathan Ake, who is pushing for a recall to the starting XI.

First-choice goalkeeper Ederson missed their last start with an eye injury and has since been ruled out of Brazil’s Copa America squad so will not play.

Man City predicted lineup: Ortega , Walker (C), Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Foden, Doku, Haaland

United have a few more question marks around the makeup of their team to work through.

Rasmus Hoijlund is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Brighton while both Mason Mount and Harry Maguire are both in doubt to start.

Man Utd predicted lineup: Onana, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, Amad Diallo, Casemiro, McTominay, Mainoo, Fernandes, Garnacho, Hoijund,

Manchester City vs Manchester United Preview

This should be as simple as City wins because of course that is what they always do.

But for Manchester United, there are repercussions if they do not salute here.

For starters, they must win if they want to play European football this year after finishing a lowly eighth position in the premier league.

Manager Erik Ten Hag is (again) fighting for his job ahead of a potential summer overhaul by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, so the delivery of a trophy will provide a much-needed morale boost at Old Trafford.

City just knows how to go through the gears so well and has won the previous three meetings against the Red Devils and seven of the last night across all competitions. Their experience in big games and cup finals is unmatched by really any other football team in the world right now too.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Betting Tips & Predictions

Head-to-head

It is hard to look past City. They just win so much and so easily too; you would be mad not to tip them as we have here.

Even though some of them might still be hanging hard and have some weary heads after some big celebrations, They are absolute experts in these massive one-off games on the biggest stage, proving against Chelsea that they do not always have to be on top and dominant to still prevail in the end.

As mentioned above, City has well and truly had United’s number in recent times and it is so tough to see Ten Hag’s men emerging victorious again at Wembley, though I am sure they will put up a valiant effort.

Betting tip: Man City win 3-1.

First Goal

As mentioned, City is in very close to rude health and has all its attacking weapons at its disposal.

It is hard to look anywhere but the goal-scoring machine that is Erling Haaland. 27 goals, taking home his second successive Golden Boot award, you would be silly to look anywhere else.

Kevin De Bruyne is always there if you want a flutter elsewhere, but we are going to play it safe here.

Betting tip: Erling Haaland

Over/ Under

With the line at 2.5 and considering City’s scoring power up front and the last few times they have played United they have put three goals past them, we see no reason they will not do the same here.

Betting tip: Over 2.5 goals

Match Details

Sunday, May 26th, midnight (AEST)

Wembley Stadium

Match Odds:
