Croatia vs Spain Prediction and Betting Odds

Croatia vs Spain

Having played each other in Spain just a few days ago, Croatia will get another crack at the whip in attempting to get three points against the world champions.

The two are in Group C of the UEFA Nations League, a fixture that offers plenty for anyone betting on European competitions, and the last meeting didn’t go particularly well for Croatia, with Spain running riot. A 4-1 defeat could have been much heavier.

Croatia may also be even more fearful of this upcoming challenge as they were defensively poor again against England, suffering a 7-0 loss in their most recent game.

Will it be another easy win for Spain on Wednesday, October 7, with kick-off at 04:45 AEST?

Quick Picks

Our pick: Spain win

Value bet: BTTS to hit

Long shot: Over 4.5 Goals

Betting Preview

Spain showed the world why they are champions following this winter’s tournament, as they were rampant against Croatia in front of a home crowd.

Luis de la Fuente’s side followed up their 3-2 victory over England with a comprehensive 4-1 win. Lamine Yamal added to the one he scored against the Three Lions by scoring twice in this meeting, with a goal in both halves.

Dion Drena Belljo did make it 1-1, but that scoreline lasted all of a couple of minutes as Marc Pubill scored his first goal for his country to make it 2-1.

Yamal’s second was followed up by Nico Williams in the final moments of the game, putting the final nail in the coffin for Slaven Bilic’s side.

Things are going to need to improve for Croatia, who had actually started their UEFA Nations League campaign well with a victory against Czechia (2-1). They had just five attempts on goal against Spain, with two hitting the target.

They were outplayed throughout the game, as Spain dominated possession (60%). That wasn’t really a surprise, though, given the way La Rioja play.

Croatia are also entering this game after a hiding from England, the worst in their history, while Spain swatted Czechia aside 3-1.

Betting Markets to Watch

The odds are likely to heavily favour Spain heading into this contest. They have been impressive in their return from the World Cup and continue to show everyone why they deserved to be the winners.

This game could be a little tighter than the first encounter, with Croatia potentially posing a greater challenge at home and determined to keep things tighter than they managed against England. Fans will also be allowed back in the stands after being banned from the England game.

In terms of goals, it’s unlikely that Croatia will leak as many as in the England defeat, but the over 2.5 goals market has value as it has hit in the majority of games these two nations have played so far.

At the same time, the BTTS hitting also appears likely, as this has also happened in the first couple of matches for each.

Yamal as an anytime goalscorer could also be an option following a fast start to his Nations League campaign, having added another against Czechia in their 3-1 win.

Our Prediction

Check the latest Croatia vs Spain betting odds at Sportsbet.

Our prediction is a likely Spain win, as De La Fuente’s side look unplayable and unbeatable at the moment. Even when England gave them a scare, the Spaniards were composed enough to find their way back into, and ultimately win that tie.

If you are backing the result here, it is worth understanding what the win draw win market means before you lock in a Spain win.

The long shot in this one is over 4.5 goals. While the previous encounter saw five goals scored, both nations have had a habit of scoring and conceding in this competition so far.
