Conference League Matchweek 1 Predictions and Betting Odds

This year’s Group Phase of the UEFA Conference League gets underway, with the first of six match weeks.
Early betting odds have placed Brighton as the favourites, as the Seagulls aim to become the fourth English side to win it in the tournament’s sixth iteration.
The top 24 will advance to the next stage, with those finishing between 1st and 8th receiving an automatic place in the knockout rounds.
Let’s take a look at some of the standout ties…
Quick Picks
Our pick: Brighton to win
Value bet: Craiova to win
Long shot: Atalanta to win
Betting Markets to Watch
Starting with the favourites, Brighton have very little value in their moneyline. Instead, the value lies in the correct score market with a 3-0 win.
In their last 15 home matches in all competitions, they are undefeated in 12, with 7 clean sheets, and 40% of those wins by two goals or more.
They have also kept a clean sheet in each of their previous five wins in major European competitions. It’s likely they’ll have far too much for Lithuanian outfit Kauno Zalgiris.
They may have four out of five wins in their last domestic league ties, but they shouldn’t cope with the Premier League outfit.
Atalanta vs Pafos also has value, with the home win offering some value. That’s possibly because Atalanta enter on a three-match losing run, while Pafos have lost only once in their last six matches.
Atalanta don’t draw games often, having three wins and three defeats in their last six. Pafos, meanwhile, haven’t won any of their last eight away matches in Europe – and they’ve failed to score in five of those.
Copenhagen vs Braga is an interesting matchup, with the odds close between both. Copenhagen have been ruthless at Parken, winning their last three, scoring 2.33 goals per game and conceding just 0.33.
Braga have kept clean sheets in all six Conference League qualifiers so far, but away from home they tend to draw. A draw looks likely, with the BTTS hitting. With a stalemate on the cards here, it is worth understanding what draw no bet means if you fancy one side but want cover against sharing the points.
There’s value in an upset victory for Craiova. They take on a seemingly superior Getafe side, but Spaniards are looking for form.
The Romanian outfit have an undefeated streak of 91% in their last 11 Conference League home games, while Getafe are enduring a winless run in 9 of their last 11 away games.
The BTTS not hitting has value, as Craiova have kept clean sheets in 55% of the 11 home games, with 2.09 scored and 0.64 conceded on average. The Over 2.5 goals also has value.

From the picks we’ve made above, we think Craiova beating Getafe has value, with the long shot being our win for Atalanta against Pafos.
