With the German Bundesliga 26/27 campaign about to get underway, the outright betting odds for the winner will naturally favour Bayern Munich.

Vincent Kompany’s easily side won the title last season by a 16-point margin, clocking up 89 points from their 34 games. Dortmund were their closest challengers, but they finished second with 73, with RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart finishing on 65 and 62 points, respectively.

Bayer Leverkusen ended Bayern’s run of 11 consecutive league titles in 2024. But Bayern have since captured the last two. The odds suggest a third in a row is likely for the 35-time champions, but could another club challenge them?

Given their dominance of German soccer and the players they have, Bayern will remain heavy favourites in almost every season played unless something incredible happens.

England hitman Harry Kane remains one of the deadliest forwards in the world, while they also boast several other stars throughout the team that can make a massive difference, including French star Michael Olise.

Ismael Saibari has joined him in attack, while Nathaniel Brown arrives to bolster the defence. Only experienced players Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro have left, with others moving on who didn’t really play much of a role for the club last season. Keeping the core of their side and adding to it is why they remain a big favourite.

With this in mind, it’s worth taking a look at the market without them , as this is where the value lies across the German Bundesliga.

Betting Markets to Watch

Aside from Bayern Munich, the odds appear to largely follow the standings of last season’s Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund remain the most likely to challenge , with coach Niko Kovač in the final year of his contract. He has consistently improved BVB since taking over in January 2025, guiding them to 4th after they were 11th and then to second in his first full season.

The Black and Yellow have also added players to the squad this season, although many are very young. Dutchman Joey Veerman is arguably the most experienced, and can add something in midfield.

They’ve lost experienced players in Karim Adeyemi, Julian Brandt, and Niklas Süle, which may come at a cost. They’ve already lost 2-1 to Bayern this season, too, as the champions lifted the DFL Supercup on August 22 (a cup Bayern has now won for the seventh consecutive season).

RB Leipzig are another option with value, as Martín Demichelis looks to improve on last season. It will be his first season in charge, which is perhaps why they're slightly lower in value than BVB. They’ve signed Maxime Estève and Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland to try to improve their defensive line.

Rocco Reitz has experience in the league, after moving from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, while rumours about reuniting with Christopher Nkunku persist, which could add firepower to Leipzig’s ranks. Yan Diomande and Loïs Openda leaving may have seriously harmed their chances, though.

Several of these clubs will also feature in Europe this season, so it is worth reading up on how to bet on the Champions League before backing them there.

Bayern Munich are the likely Bundesliga winners. Looking at the market excluding Bayern, Dortmund appear to be the most likely to have value.

A long shot is Leverkusen . They have added quality to their squad and could mount a challenge this season, although Carles Martínez Novell will have some work on his hands as he starts a new job after managing Toulouse in France.
