Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich Prediction and Betting Odds

Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich Prediction

A heavyweight showdown will take place in MW4 of the UEFA Champions League Group Phase, as Atletico Madrid host Bayern Munich.

The game will take place at the Metropolitano on Wednesday, November 4, with kick-off scheduled for 07:00 AEDT – and this one looks worth an early start for…

With that early AEDT start, it is worth sorting out how to watch the Champions League in Australia before kick-off.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Bayern Munich win

Value bet: Kane first goalscorer

Long shot: Over 2.5 Goals

Betting Preview

Bayern head to the Spanish capital unbeaten, but they haven’t been at their very best in the UEFA Champions League so far.

Vincent Kompany’s side have had two draws and a win, although their last game in the competition was an impressive 2-2 draw against last year’s runners-up, Arsenal.

They took a 2-1 lead after going one behind, with Alphonso Davies and a Harry Kane penalty giving them the lead before Declan Rice levelled things late on.

Since then, Bayern have had two wins and a draw, including a 2-2 outing in Der Klassiker against Dortmund (Kane missed a penalty in his first game since being named the Ballon d’Or winner).

Atletico have a point fewer than Bayern’s five, having won, drawn, and lost in their opening three games.

Their last match in the UCL was against German opposition, as they were held to a 1-1 tie in Germany by Stuttgart. Diego Simeone’s side saw Julian Alvarez score before seeing Morten Hjulmand be shown a red card in the second half.

Since then, they’ve returned to domestic soccer, where they’ve won two consecutive games with clean sheets as they continue to push Barcelona for the La Liga title.

Alvarez scored in the first of those two, scoring his first two goals of the season as he starts to find his touch in front of goal.

Betting Markets to Watch

Bayern Munich enjoy being on their travels in this competition, particularly when they are playing on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

They have won 25 of their last 26 Champions League Tuesday matches as an away favourite, which is perhaps why the odds slightly favour them in the moneyline.

However, they’ve not won in the last three trips away against Los Rojiblancos, with two 1-0 defeats in 2016 and a 1-1 draw in 2020.

When they’ve played Atletico Madrid at home, though, they’ve won their last three - and we think Bayern will return to winning ways away here due to strength in depth. A Bayern Munich win is most likely.

The 'Over 2.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Bayern Munich's last nine Champions League away matches, while the ' Both Teams to Score ' market has hit in each of Bayern Munich's last nine Champions League away matches.

Kane has scored in each of the three UCL matches so far, which is why he has value in the anytime scorer market; better value may be in the first goalscorer.

Alvarez is another in the anytime, as he has started to find his stride for Atletico Madrid. In fact, Only Harry Kane (22) and Kylian Mbappé (20) have been involved in more Champions League goals since the start of last season than Julián Alvarez (11 goals, 5 assists).

He’ has also attempted more than three shots in four of his previous eight games.

Our Prediction

Check the latest Atletico vs Bayern betting odds at Sportsbet. Our prediction is for a Bayern Munich win.

A long shot is the Over 2.5 Goals. Both teams haven’t been at their best in the UCL so far this season, and both can be defensively strong.

And while the last two meetings between these two in Spain have failed to achieve the three goals, we think both are going to go all out in a bid to climb the league rankings.
