Ousmane Dembele struck within three minutes to send Paris Saint-Germain to the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final, the defending champions surviving a Harry Kane stoppage-time equaliser to advance 6-5 on aggregate against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Arsenal are waiting in Budapest. The Gunners secured their own place the previous night, and the two clubs will meet at the Puskas Arena on May 30 - kick-off at 2:00am AEST on May 31.
How Dembele and PSG Silenced the Allianz Arena
The tie turned immediately. Fabian Ruiz slipped a through ball to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia down the left, the Georgian cut back into the box, and Dembele finished clinically - all inside three minutes, and all before Bayern had settled into the contest.
PSG then dropped deep, with goalkeeper Matvei Safonov making key saves as Bayern controlled possession at 59 per cent but struggled to manufacture genuine openings.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany pointed to refereeing decisions across both legs, citing disputed handball incidents and a potential second yellow card that was never shown.
"Of course, in the end we lost two very, very tight games against a very good opponent," Kompany told reporters after the final whistle. Kane's goal deep in stoppage time brought a nervy finish but never threatened the aggregate scoreline, and PSG held on to advance.
PSG forward Desire Doue was jubilant speaking to Canal Plus. "It was an exceptional match, another magical night in Munich against a great team," Doue said.
"These are the kinds of matches we've dreamt of playing."
For Bayern, the exit closes what had been a record-breaking domestic campaign.
The Bundesliga champions have not featured in a European final since their 2020 victory over PSG in Lisbon.
Arsenal and PSG Set for Budapest Decider
Arsenal booked their final spot at the Emirates the previous evening, beating Atletico Madrid 1-0 to progress 2-1 on aggregate.
Viktor Gyokeres disrupted Atletico's defence with a clever run before the ball reached Leandro Trossard, whose low drive was parried weakly by Jan Oblak - and Bukayo Saka reacted quickest to finish from four yards in the 44th minute.
Arsenal's defence was outstanding throughout, recording a ninth clean sheet in 14 European games this season.
The Gunners' appearance in the final is their first since 2006, when they lost to Barcelona - ending a 20-year wait for club football's biggest night.
PSG arrive as defending champions chasing what Al Jazeera reports would be only the second back-to-back European titles since 1990, following Real Madrid's achievement. Arsenal enter the match as Premier League leaders.
The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG kicks off at 2:00am AEST on May 31 at the 67,000-capacity Puskas Arena in Budapest.
