Dembele Strikes Early as PSG Edge Bayern 6-5 on Aggregate
PSG secured their place in the final with a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena on May 6, advancing 6-5 on aggregate after a 5-4 first-leg win in Paris.
The French champions needed just three minutes in Munich: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia received a through ball, beat his marker down the left, and cut back for Ousmane Dembele to finish.
Bayern pressed relentlessly through the second half, with Harry Kane converting in stoppage time at 90+4 minutes, but it was too late to force extra time.
PSG forward Desire Doue was candid after the final whistle. "It was an exceptional match, another magical night in Munich against a great team," he told international media. "These are the kinds of matches we've dreamt of playing since we were little."
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was measured in defeat: "We lost two very, very tight games against a very good opponent."
Kane finished the competition with 14 goals from 13 Champions League appearances, a prolific individual return that was not enough to prevent Bayern's elimination.
PSG are now chasing consecutive Champions League titles, a feat no club has achieved since Real Madrid.
Their two legs against Bayern produced 11 goals in total, the aggregate never separating the sides by more than a single goal at the end of either match.
Saka Sends Arsenal to Their First European Final in 20 Years
Arsenal's path to Budapest was confirmed the previous night, when Bukayo Saka tapped in a rebound at the Emirates Stadium to complete a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid on May 5.
The Gunners progressed 2-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Madrid.
The decisive moment came in the 44th minute. Leandro Trossard drove at the Atletico goal; his low shot was weakly pushed out by Jan Oblak, and Saka finished from four yards to put Arsenal into their first Champions League final since 2006.
That 2006 final ended in a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in Paris. Arsenal have never won the Champions League, and they have not appeared in a European final since that night in the French capital.
PSG enter Budapest as defending champions seeking to retain the trophy for the first time since Real Madrid. Arsenal arrive 20 years in the making.
