Germany vs Côte d'Ivoire Prediction

Germany and Ivory Coast both managed to secure an opening game win, but now both will be looking to confirm their place in the next round of the tournament.

Read our Germany vs Ivory Coast preview and what we think could happen in this Group E contest.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Germany to win

Value bet: BTTS to hit

Long shot: Germany 2-1 correct score

Germany vs Ivory Coast Prediction

Germany and Ivory Coast will both enter this game with plenty of confidence, having won their respective opening fixtures. The Germans smashed seven past minnows Curacao in their 7-1 victory, while the Ivory Coast left it late to win 1-0 against Ecuador through a goal from Manchester United’s Amad Diallo.

Looking at the odds that have been set ahead of this contest, it’s far from a surprise that the European nation is the big favourite.

As our Germany vs Côte d'Ivoire betting odds page shows, that said, the Africans are far from an easy opponent. Including qualifying, they are unbeaten across the 11 tournament games so far, winning nine of those.

Still, Germany have more star-quality about them, and Julian Nagelsmann will expect his side to come out on top. Indeed, we think this is the most likely outcome…

Germany vs Ivory Coast score prediction

It’s highly likely that the Elephants will be much harder for Germany to break down than Curacao were.

Emerse Faé’s team showed they can be aggressive in their encounter with Ecuador, looking to beat their opponent to the ball first and challenging hard in tackles.

This could mean that Germany have to change their game slightly from the opening group contest, leaving Nagelsmann’s men with potentially fewer opportunities on goal.

Still, with ball winners in midfield such as Aleksandar Pavlovic and creative and attacking threats in players such as Florian Wirtz, they have the quality, which is why there’s the feeling that they will likely win the game.

Some might even point to the fact that the Ivory Coast’s final game is against Curacao, and could be the ideal encounter for them to secure passage to the next round, given they picked up three points in their opener.

The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market is looking like it offers value, with the BTTS adding additional value to hit. While it took a late effort from Diallo for the Ivorians to score, Germany showed they could be broken down at times against Curacao.

Our prediction is that this one will end Germany 2-1.

Player markets to watch

Nagelsmann could look to set up his team in various ways, all of which will depend on the players he chooses to start.

Kai Havertz scored twice in the opener and often has important goals in his locker, suggesting he offers value as an anytime goalscorer.

On the flip side, so does Deniz Undav. The forward was a second-half substitute in the opener and had three goal contributions.

He’ll offer value as an anytime goalscorer, which could potentially work with the ‘Super Sub’ market if he and Havertz are swapped. On top of an anytime goal, Undav also offers value in the ‘To Score or Assist’ market.

Elye Wahi offers value as an anytime goalscorer for the Ivory Coast. He had two shots on goal in the game against Ecuador, with one hitting the target across 55 minutes before being replaced.

Alternatively, Amad Diallo has value to score at any time. He had two shots in his 35 minutes of play, with both on target, including the last-minute winner.

After that performance, he could be given the opportunity to start this match, which makes him a potential live option.
