Czechia vs Mexico Prediction

24/06/2026|SB Staff|World Cup 2026 Tips & Predictions
czechia vs mexico

Czechia know they need a positive result if they are to qualify for the next stage and advance from Group A.

Co-hosts Mexico, meanwhile, have already secured their place in the Round of 32, but they will be aiming to make it three wins from three and potentially keep their game at the start of the knockout stages in their home country.

To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!

How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.

For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!

Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.

Quick Picks

Czechia vs Mexico prediction

Czechia need to go all-out and attack El Tri if they are to give themselves a chance of qualifying. But this could leave them vulnerable at the back, something that has already been evident in the two Group Stage games they have played so far.

They were beaten by South Korea in their first game despite going a goal up, eventually losing 2-1.

In their next game, South Africa managed to rescue a draw after Czechia took the lead once again, having needed the penalty spot to get their goal. The defence has struggled to remain rigid, and Mexico’s attack isn’t going to make it easy.

The co-hosts have been on the front foot in both of their games so far. Against South Africa, they had 16 shots on goal in a 2-0 victory, then recorded a further eight against South Korea in their 1-0 victory.

While they had much more of the ball in the first game, Javier Aguirre’s side showed they could hit on the break against South Korea when they had less of the ball just as well.

Unsurprisingly, the moneyline odds have Mexico as the pre-match favourites, and we think this is the most likely outcome.

The draw does offer some value, though, if you think Czechia can hold out in their time of need. Including qualifiers, three of Czechia's last four matches have resulted in a draw at the end of regulation time.

Czechia vs Mexico score prediction

Given what’s up for grabs, we think there could be goals in this one, with the ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ offering value worth exploring.

While the 'Under 2.5 Goals' market has hit during regulation time in nine of Mexico's last 10 tournament matches in North, Central America & the Caribbean, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this game opened up very quickly and gave each offence the space needed to have shots at goal.

Indeed, the BTTS hitting appears to have some value, which is why we think there could be over 2.5 goals.

Including qualifiers, the 'Both Teams to Score' market has hit during regulation time in each of Czechia's last four tournament matches. While Mexico have recorded clean sheets in their last two Group Stage matches, Czechia have no choice but to attack and do have goals in them.

As a result, we think the Mexico 2-1 scoreline has good value to it given the game’s circumstances…

Czechia vs Mexico team news and line-ups

Predicted Czech Republic line-up (3-4-1-2): Kovar, Holes, Hranac, Krejci, Coufal, Darida, Cerv, Sadilek, Sojka, Schick, Hlozek.

Needing a win to keep their knockout hopes alive, they are likely to stick with much the same setup that has served them well in the group stage. David Jurasek is expected to miss out with a thigh injury.

Predicted Mexico line-up (4-3-3): Rangel, Sanchez, Reyes, Vasquez, Gallardo, Gutierrez, Lira, Romo, Alvarado, Gimenez, Quinones.

With top spot all but secured, the hosts could freshen things up and rest a few regulars while keeping their attacking shape.

Edson Alvarez is reportedly a doubt with likely rotation, Raul Jimenez is reportedly a doubt with likely rotation, while Cesar Montes returns from suspension.

Player markets to watch

Raul Jimenez remains a constant threat for Mexico, playing as the nation’s main focal point.

He has one goal so far in this tournament (against South Africa) and looked lively against South Korea, even though he only managed one shot. Still, he offers value as an anytime goalscorer because of his movement and ability to make things happen out of nothing.

Patrik Schick is the main target for Czechia, although he has had a quiet campaign. He failed to register a shot against South Korea, but had two against South Africa.

He’s going to need to be more involved in this one against Mexico, but with eight goals in qualifiers, he has the threat needed.

Adam Hlozek is another for Czechia who could have a big game. Still only 23, the forward has had a difficult season for Hoffenheim, but has shown glimpses of quality when on the ball.

He could make something happen, meaning he likely offers value in the ‘To Score or Assist’ market.
