If you have recently placed an Exotic bet such as a Trifecta or Quaddie, you may have noticed something called “Flexi %” next to where you enter your stake. This may be foreign to some new punters, so just what does Flexi mean in betting?

What Is A Flexi Bet?

Flexi betting allows punters to wager a percentage (%) of a full betting unit, instead of having to fork out for the full cost of a $1 unit. This means you can increase the number of selections in your bet (and the potential winnings) without needing to up the amount of money you are betting with.

When To Place A Flexi Bet

Now you are probably wondering when is the best time to place a flexi bet. Well, for starters, flexi betting is only available across Exotic bet types in racing such as Trifectas, Quaddies and Quinellas.

When placing an Exotic bet such as a Trifecta, a popular strategy amongst punters is to select multiple combinations of runners within the same wager. Traditionally you would have to pay a full unit stake for each combination. Now you can simply place a Flexi bet instead.

In essence a Flexi bet allows you to take as many selections and combinations as you like for whatever amount you wish to invest.

Obviously, the lower the outlay, the lower the potential dividend should the wager be successful.

Example Of A Flexi Bet

Let’s say you wanted to place 8 quaddies on race day, but you only want to spend a total of $16. Usually you would need to put money on each horse you wanted to include, which over the course of 8 races would total to $32 at $1 per horse.

With a flexi bet, this would be possible but your dividend would be 50%.

This means if you successfully tipped a winning Quaddies that was paying $100, you would take home 50% of the winnings or $50.

How To Place A Flexi Bet

To place a Flexi bet, simply enter your Flexi percentage after you have chosen your selections. The percentage will automatically be reflected as a stake and vice versa.

A Flexi bet is perfect for punters who are looking to place a conservative wager without missing out on everything that the world of Exotics has to offer.
