How To Bet On The NFL Throughout The Year

A typical NFL season has three distinct stages. Before you start betting on the NFL, getting up to speed with the differences between these three stages is important. You can also follow the experts and see what they’re tipping through our NFL huddle page here.

NFL Regular Season

There are 32 teams in the NFL that are split into two conferences, as is common in American sports.

These two conferences are the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC).

There are 16 teams in each conference, and the splitting doesn’t end there. Within each of these conferences is four divisions containing four teams each – North, South, East and West.

These teams do battle within their own divisions and conferences, with the teams that accrue the most points advancing to the NFL Playoffs.

NFL Playoffs

The top seven teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs.

These teams are seeded based on their regular season performance, with the No.1 seed in each conference receiving a bye in the first week of the playoffs.

These 14 teams do battle until they are whittled down to just two. These remaining two teams qualify for the NFL’s showpiece event – the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is basically just an American way of saying “the Grand Final”.

This is the season's final game, where the AFC and NFC winners meet and battle to become the NFL champions.

One of the biggest events on the sporting calendar, the whole world tunes in to witness Super Bowl Sunday.
