As a junior JJ predominantly played basketball and had a development contract with the now defunct Townsville Crocs in the NBL.

He then switched to AFL and was quickly drafted by Essendon in the 2010 rookie draft.

After failing to make a senior appearance for the Bombers in his first year at the club he sought a trade to the Adelaide Crows and the rest they say is history.

Start as you mean to go on, JJ kicked a goal with the very first kick of his debut for the Crows against Geelong in round 7, 2012.

Some of Josh’s achievements at Adelaide include: kicking eight goals in a single match, kicking 62 goals in a season, being named in the All-Australian squad, and playing in the 2017 AFL grand final.

At the conclusion of the 2019 season he moved to Geelong and ultimately retired from the AFL altogether in 2021.

These days JJ is a respected sports media personality and a frequent Sportsbet contributor. His sporting knowledge extends far beyond just AFL, and you can follow him on the Feed for betting tips covering a multitude of sports!

What team did you support growing up?

Brisbane Lions and Richmond.

Favourite goal you have scored?

All the easy ones from the goal square (or 2014 when I was blindly robbed for goal of the year).

What was your favourite sport growing up?

Basketball in the summer and footy in the winter!

What was the highlight of your career?

The 2017 prelim for Adelaide against the Cats when we played a near-perfect game.

Who is your favourite athlete of all time?

Calvin Johnson (former NFL player – I flew all the way to Detroit to see him play, he missed the game with a rolled ankle).

What was your go to meal before a game?

Tuna pasta bake.

Best sporting moment you’ve ever witnessed live?

Winx Cox Plate #3.

Why should punters follow you on the Feed?

Follow me for bets across most sports.
