He played in the club’s last game before they merged with the Illawarra Steelers to become the St George Illawarra Dragons.</p> <p>He then went on to join Balmain in 1999, he also played in their final game as a standalone entity before they merged with Western Suburbs to become the Wests Tigers.</p> <p>He finished as Balmain’s top points scorer in their final season thanks to his prowess in front of goal.</p> <p>Joel’s time in the NRL is perhaps best remembered for scoring a hat-trick against the Brisbane Broncos in the Wests Tigers first ever game as a joint venture.</p> <p>He is still to this day the Tigers’ third-highest points scorer of all time, having scored 526 points in just four years at the club.</p> <p>After leaving the NRL, Sugar spent two seasons in the English Super League playing for the London Broncos and Salford City Reds, before hanging up the boots for good.</p> <p>These days, he is best known as a respected Rugby League analyst, media personality and Sportsbet presenter.</p> <p>He is also now a Feed betting expert!
