New Zealand Warriors vs Canberra Raiders Prediction | Round 12 2025
22/05/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
This clash shapes as the match of the round with the second-placed New Zealand Warriors hosting the third-placed Canberra Raiders at Go Media Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Warriors are back home in New Zealand for the first time in a month after a successful stint in Aus that saw them win three straight.

These teams met in the Las Vegas season opener with the Raiders running out comfortable victors, but a lot has changed across the ditch since then.

The Warriors have suffered just one defeat since and remain undefeated at home this season. On the team front, there are two changes for the home side with Bunty Afoa and Jackson Ford back to replace the suspended James Fisher-Harris and the Origin-bound Mitch Barnett.

The Raiders haven’t tasted success across the Tasman since 2019 and have made one change with Hudson Young on Origin duty. Simi Sasagi takes over the starting role with Noah Martin set to make his NRL debut off the bench.

Lets take a look at the full teams lists for these two sides, as well as some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Warriors vs Raiders prediction.

Warriors vs Raiders Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Talk about saving the best for last. The final game of NRL round 12 sees the high-flying Warriors square off against the equally electric Raiders.

With minimal Origin representation from either side despite their lofty ladder positions (only Mitch Barnett and Hudson Young were called up), this is shaping up to be a full-strength barnburner between two of the form sides in the competition.

We’re actually taking the Wahs here, for two very specific reasons: home ground advantage and Luke Metcalf.

The young Warriors half has caught fire in a way few could have seen coming this season and currently sits first in the Dally M count.

He’s simply doing everything at the moment, whether it be kicking goals, scoring tries, or setting them up in stunning fashion, as he did against the Dolphins last week.

Betting tip: New Zealand Warriors.

First Try Scorer Prediction

As touched on above, main man Metcalf has been everywhere for the Warriors this season.

The No.7 is on a try-scoring tear that is rather rare for a halfback and one that is normally reserved for wingers and centres.

He also loves the big games it seems and has scored a try in each of his last six appearances against opponents that were ranked in the top four. Unsurprisingly, he’s our pick for first try scorer here.

Betting tip: Luke Metcalf.

Over/Under Prediction

Two teams known for their attacking flair and two teams full of young players who want nothing more than to chuck the footy around. There should be plenty of points in this one.

It also helps that five of Canberra's last six matches have gone over the total match points line. We fancy that to become six of their last seven here.

Betting tip: Over total match points.
