The 16th-placed Gold Coast Titans will host the 17th-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs in an early ‘spoon bowl’ at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Last week’s 60-14 loss to Brisbane was the rock bottom in what has been a challenging year for Souths.

Nine consecutive losses have them facing a wooden spoon, although with a bye to come, victory on Sunday would put the Rabbitohs in position to avoid that unwanted title.

South Sydney may take confidence from its nine-match winning streak over Gold Coast. The Titans felt hard done-by last weekend, with controversial antics from a Penrith trainer becoming the talking point in their heartbreaking 30-26 golden point loss.

There are two changes for the Titans with Phillip Sami (concussion) replaced by Alofiana Khan-Pereira, while Chris Randall returns with Tom Weaver dropped.

Ryan Gray, Lewis Dodd and Tyrone Munro drop out for Souths. Jamie Humphreys, Brandon Smith and Peter Mamouzelos join the 17, while Latrell Mitchell has a chance of returning via the reserves.

Check out our Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs match preview for plenty of betting tips and predictions across a host of markets. Whoever loses this one between the Titans and the Rabbitohs will more than likely be taking home the wooden spoon come season’s end.

Both teams recorded their 14th loss of the season last week, albeit in very different circumstances.

The Titans were minutes away from pulling off an all-time comeback against Penrith, until Nathan Cleary had other ideas.

The Rabbitohs loss was for more befitting of a team at the bottom of the table. They were torn limb from limb by the Broncos in a 60-14 slamming.

In what has to be a league first, the Rabbitohs took to their field without an available 18th man due to some last-minute scratchings. They simply did not have 18 fit players available.

Souths are in a state, the likes of which they haven’t experienced for nearly two decades.

Dead last, -197 points difference and what feels like more players sidelined than available, where do Bennett and his Bunnies go from here?

The only place they have left to go – the kitchen drawer to collect their wooden spoon.

Betting tip: Gold Coast Titans.

First Tryscorer Prediction

If there’s someone who can smell weakness and capitalise on it quickly, it’s this man. AJ Brimson has been the first try-scorer in each of his last two home appearances against the team that was on the bottom of the ladder.

Betting tip: AJ Brimson.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of South Sydney's last three interstate matches have gone over the total match points line.

Betting tip: Over total match points (53.5).

Titans vs Rabbitohs Anytime Tryscorer Betting Tips

Bayleigh Bentley-Hape

In six of South Sydney's last seven matches at Cbus Super Stadium, its starting left wing has scored at least one try.

Brian Kelly

In each of South Sydney's last four away matches, the opposition's starting right centre has scored at least one try.

Jye Gray

In each of Gold Coast's last three home matches, the opposition's starting fullback has scored at least one try.

Alex Johnston

In five of South Sydney's last six matches at Cbus Super Stadium, its starting right wing has scored two or more tries.

Alofiana Khan-Pereira

Alofiana Khan-Pereira has scored two tries in each of his last three appearances in the starting lineup.

Titans vs Rabbitohs Teams

Gold Coast Titans Team List

1.
