Gold Coast Titans vs Canterbury Bulldogs Prediction – Round 9 2025

01/05/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The Canterbury Bulldogs will be looking for their first ever Magic Round win when they take on the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium to kick off Sunday’s triple-header.

The table-topping Bulldogs lost for the first time in 2025 last week, thanks to a first-half disaster class against the Brisbane Broncos.

Canterbury were obliterated 34-0 in the opening half, with three sin bins proving costly in a game marred by ill-discipline. This has subsequently forced Cameron Ciraldo into several changes with Matt Burton, Josh Curran and Sitili Tupouniua all suspended.

That means Bailey Hayward starts at five-eighth, Daniel Suluka-Fifita replaces Curran in the front row, and Kurtis Morrin and Blake Taaffe join the bench.

Meanwhile, the Titans are reeling after a heavy 50-18 loss to the Cowboys – their fourth straight defeat.

This wretched run of form has prompted Des Hasler to name a vastly different bench, with the biggest shakeup the omission of David Fifita, who has been dropped to the reserves.

With Jaimin Jolliffe suspended and Brock Gray ruled out for the season, Klese Haas, Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui and Josiah Pahulu have been called up for duty.

Let’s take a look at the rest of the team lists for these two sides, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Titans vs Bulldogs prediction.

Titans vs Bulldogs Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Bulldogs return to where their unbeaten start to the season was abruptly ended last week.

One minute the Doggies were the only undefeated team in the land, with a defensive record most sides could only dream of. The next they were down 34-0 to the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium in the pouring rain.

Luckily the Titans are just the tonic for anyone looking to return to the winner’s circle, as it’s been a month since they tasted victory.

You can’t write a team off for one slip-up in the rain, particularly in a season as temperamental as this one. The Bulldogs by plenty here.

Betting tip: Canterbury Bulldogs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

The Bulldogs Mr Fix It, Connor Tracey, has found a home at fullback recently and is one of the main proprietors of Canterbury’s success this season.

The skilled utility has an excellent record against this particular opponent and has scored a try in each of his last five appearances against the Titans. He’s our choice for first try scorer in this one.

Betting tip: Connor Tracey.

Over/Under Prediction

Regardless of the conditions, the Bulldogs plus Suncorp Stadium appears to equal points.

Obviously, that’s not always a good thing for the Bulldogs, but the fact of the matter is that each of Canterbury's last four matches at Suncorp Stadium have gone over the total match points line.

Betting tip: Over total match points.
