It’s getting close, as we’re days away from Game 2 in the 2025 State of Origin series.

Both teams travel to Perth for this clash, where the Blues hope to claim the series and the Maroons aspire to tie the series and claim the shield on New South Wales turf, where revenge would be best sweet for the events of last year’s series, with New South Wales claiming the series at Suncorp Stadium in the series decider.

Game One saw the Blues dominate in the middle and win comfortably by double digits. Zac Lomax and Payne Haas shined the most for the Blues with their carries and influence in the yardage game, meanwhile Queensland’s discipline and lack of counters against the New South Wales middles gave the Maroons a tough night they would want to forget.

Can the Maroons even up the series with a lot of shake ups to their lineup or will the Blues claim back-to-back series victories for the first time since 2018 and 2019?

For the latest State of Origin Game 2 teams lists, analysis, news and betting tips, check out our State of Origin Game 2 predictions.

State of Origin Game 2 Team Lists

Queensland

1.
State of Origin Game 2 Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

New South Wales claimed back-to-back wins at Suncorp Stadium, becoming the first Blues side since 1997-98 to achieve such a feat with a series deciding win last year and a game one defeat over the Queensland Maroons to kick off this year’s series.

The key areas they won the game in besides the scoreboard was the yardage/territory and discipline areas, which created a huge gap between the both sides.

The two games that have been played in Perth have only been won by the Blues, leaving Queensland with a tougher mission travelling to Western Australia.

When the Blues won the games in Perth, it was to even up the series before the decider.

While it could be Queensland’s opportunity to even up the series in Perth just like the Blues have historically done, we expect the Blues to claim the series once again and continue their dominance when playing at Optus Stadium.

Betting tip: New South Wales.

First Try Scorer Prediction

A lot of really good options present with the first try scorer.

The Blues have scored first in three consecutive games, and we expect the trend to continue.

Nathan Cleary found a lot of success creating ball movement shifting to the right side in Game One and we expect the opportunities to present again.

The Parramatta winger scored the first try in the Origin series in Brisbane and we expect the right winger to spark for the first try in the game again.

Betting tip: Zac Lomax.

Over/Under Prediction

Game 2 has historically been a shootout and it wouldn’t surprise us if the game resulted in that fashion again.

The Blues failed to capitalise on a lot of scoring opportunities despite their dominant performance and we expect their gameplan to include a lot of aggression and playing direct against a struggling defensive line.

Queensland went with changes in their lineup that could spark playing direct and high percentage set to set play and it could open up scoring for the Maroons if they find cracks through the left edge of NSW where they did manage to score their only try for the night.

Considering game two historically for both sides, especially playing at Perth, we expect the over for the total match points.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

State of Origin Game 2 Match Details

Date: Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Kick-off: 8:00pm AEST.

Location: Optus Stadium, Perth.
