Manly Sea Eagles vs St George Illawarra Dragons Prediction
16/04/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
Life comes at you fast in the NRL. One minute you’re three from four to start the season, scoring tries for fun and seem destined for a genuine run at the title.

The next your best player is injured, again, your skipper is leaving and you’re staring down three straight losses.

This is the reality the Manly Sea Eagles are currently facing, and if they do want to avoid a hat-trick of defeats, they’ll have to take down the equally as inconsistent Dragons on Thursday night.

One week St George will lose to the last-placed Eels, the next they’ll put a serious score on the Titans, go figure.

The temperamental nature of these two teams makes this one a rather tricky one to tip, but we’re up to the task.

Here’s how these two teams should line up on Thursday night, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Sea Eagles vs Dragons prediction.

Sea Eagles vs Dragons Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

After a promising start to the season that had them earmarked by many as a genuine premiership threat, the Sea Eagles have begun to spiral.

Another Tommy Turbo injury and the DCE drama has them staring down the barrel of a third consecutive loss, should they fall to the Dragons in round 7.

There’s a good chance that happens too, particularly after the Dragons impressive win over the Titans last start.

The Red V showcased the attacking potency of their outside backs such as: Christian Tuipulotu, Tyrell Sloan and Valentine Holmes, and we’re backing them to run in more tries than their struggling opponents on Thursday night.

However, for our prediction to come to fruition, St George will have to overcome recent history, as the home team has won 10 of the last 11 matches between these two sides.

They’ll also have to overcome the loss of try scoring phenom Christian Tuipulotu, who looks set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring strain.

Betting tip: St George Illawarra Dragons.

First Try Scorer Prediction

With last week’s two-try hero Christian Tuipulotu hamstrung for this one, we are going to go searching elsewhere in the St George backline for this market.

When one two-try hero is down, pick another. Fullback turned winger Tyrell Sloan joined teammate Tuipulotu and crossed for a couple of meat pies in the Red V’s win over the Titans last week.

We love a man in form for this market and we’ll be backing Sloan to be the first over the tryline at Brookvale Oval on Thursday night.

Betting tip: Tyrell Sloan.

Over/Under Prediction

The form guide reads pretty clear here. Each of the last four matches between Manly and St. George Illawarra have gone under the total match points line.

Will a number of key attacking weapons for each team currently sidelined, points should be at a premium. Under it is.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
