The circus that is the 2025 NRL season goes on tour this week. In an effort to grow the Greatest Game of All far and wide, NRL round 6 will see matches being played in both Perth and Darwin.

No doubt fans in both WA and the Northern Territory are in for an absolute treat, as so far this season has served up nothing but pure drama.

It seems to be a case of anyone can beat anyone this year, after both the Eels and Dolphins finally joined the winners list last week.

What’s in store this week? Well, that’s what we're about to try and figure out with our NRL round 6 tips and predictions.

The Dolphins vs Penrith Panthers Prediction

Thursday, April 10, 7:50pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium

NRL round 6 opens with the Dolphins welcoming the rapidly declining Penrith Panthers to Suncorp Stadium.

It appears the dynasty that delivered an unprecedented four consecutive premierships to the foot of the mountains may finally be coming to an end.

The Dolphins, who until last week were winless, enter this clash ahead of Penrith on the NRL ladder.

It seems like a crazy statistic, but the fact of the matter is Penrith have won just once this year. The return of prodigal son Nathan Cleary could not save them from a fourth consecutive loss last week.

Despite all the doom and gloom for the reigning champs, we just can’t see them losing five on the spin and potentially falling to the foot of the ladder.

However, should they lose here we may be forced to reconsider everything we once knew about Rugby League.

Head-to-head prediction: Penrith Panthers.

Betting tip: Casey McLean first try scorer.

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Gold Coast Titans Prediction

Friday, April 11, 6:00pm AEST – Wollongong Showground

From beating the Melbourne Storm, to losing to the Parramatta Eels. Ladies and gentlemen – the St George Dragons.

The Titans are just as unpredictable, just as they had us convinced they were cooking in 2025, they go and lose at home to the, at the time, winless Dolphins.

The main headline from the Dragons’ loss to the Eels, was the performance of their skipper Clint Gutherson.

The ex-Parramatta custodian clearly had a bone to pick with his former employers as he channelled his inner Michael Jordan and made things personal.

Gutho scored two tries, set up another, made four line breaks and ran for 157 meters in a one-man masterclass.

That wasn’t enough to get the chocolates on that occasion, but should he put in a similar shift here and his teammates ride with him, surely, they’ll be able to get one over the hot and cold Titans.

Head-to-head prediction: St George Dragons.

Betting tip: Clint Gutherson anytime try scorer.

Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters Prediction

Friday, April 11, 8:00pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium

In a season full of ups and down, the Brisbane Broncos are one of the few teams who seem to have found consistency.

Now that we’ve said that, watch them go and lose to the 16th placed Roosters at home. That’s the type of season this has been.

They will most likely be without skipper Adam Reynold who injured his hamstring after scoring a stunning chip and chase against the Tigers. So that is a massive out for them.

However, squaring up against a team they’ve already beaten 50-14 away from home this season, with or without Reynolds, we won’t be backing against the Broncos here.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos.

Betting tip: Big win, little win – Broncos 13+

Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles Prediction

Saturday, April 12, 3:00pm AEST – Optus Stadium

The first game of this week’s Perth double header sees the Sharks and the Sea Eagles both searching for an immediate bounce-back from losses last week.

The Sharks were stunned in the nation’s capital by a last-minute Raiders’ resurgence, while Manly’s fortress at Four Pines Park was stormed by Melbourne.

Despite no Tom Trbojevic we were quietly confident Manly would be able to take it to Melbourne, but Craig Bellamy has made a career out of proving people wrong and did just that as he oversaw his team to a dominant 48-24 win.

Now we’re not as hot on the Sea Eagles sans Tommy Turbo, so we’re siding with the Sharks here, but only just.

Head-to-head prediction: Cronulla Sharks.

Betting tip: William Kennedy first try scorer.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs North Queensland Cowboys Prediction

Saturday, April 12, 5:30pm AEST – Optus Stadium

Wayne Bennett’s decision to keep young gun Jye Gray at fullback and select returning superstar Latrell Mitchell in the centres was instantly vindicated as both men starred in their win over arch rivals the Roosters.

Gray extended his lead at the top of the Dally M count, while Mitchell picked up three points of his own, after providing the assist of the season so far.

It wasn’t all good news for the Bunnies though, as they lost standout rookie halfback Jamie Humphries to a hamstring injury which will see him miss the next month of footy.

It looks like we’ll get the first look at English recruit Lewis Dodd, who was meant to be the first-choice half before Humphries emergence.

Despite this change in key personnel, we think the Bunnies should still be able to bounce the Cowboys over in WA, even after the North Queenslanders pulled off a stunning road win over reigning premiers Penrith last start.

Head-to-head prediction: South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Betting tip: SGM - Latrell Mitchell and Jye Gray anytime try scorers.

Parramatta Eels vs Canberra Raiders Prediction

Saturday, April 12, 7:35pm AEST – TIO Stadium

Parramatta’s annual trip to Darwin will see them expose the Canberra Raiders to unfamiliar temperatures up in the Northern Territory.

It appears the Eels have learnt their lesson from years gone by and instead of taking a Queensland team as they have previously done, they’ve decided to take a side who have a much lower melting point.

It will be fascinating to see how the Raiders roll with the humidity and it certainly could help close the talent gap between these two sides.

Still, we’ll be siding with the Green Machine here, as Parra have shown they are prone to melt in any conditions this season.

Head-to-head prediction: Canberra Raiders.

Betting tip: Under total match points.

Melbourne Storm vs New Zealand Warriors Prediction

Sunday, April 13, 2:00pm AEST – AAMI Park

What a welcome back from a week off for the Warriors here. They’ll fly straight from New Zealand and into the eye of the Storm at AAMI Park.

Some of the link up between the Melbourne’s big three of Papenhuyzen, Munster and Hughes would have sent shivers down the spine of any Warrior’s defenders who chose to tune in to the Storm’s win over Manly during their week off.

One key of those three key cogs may be missing, however. According to reports, luckless fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen could be set for another stint on the sidelines.

Regardless whether Papenhuyzen is available or not, the Warriors have historically struggled against this opponent at this venue and despite the Kiwis being as fresh as it gets for this one, we’re tipping that trend to continue.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Storm.

Betting tip: Grant Anderson first try scorer.

Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers Prediction

Sunday, April 13, 4:05pm AEST – McDonald Jones Stadium

The final game of NRL round 6 sees the Newcastle Knights welcome the Wests Tigers to the Hunter Valley on Sunday afternoon.

It became very apparent that the Knights need to fix a thing or two in attack, after being baglled by the Bulldogs last week.

The Tigers had no such trouble finding the line last start, just a lot of trouble keeping the opposition out.

With star recruit Jarome Luai due back on deck and the Newcastle artillery firing nothing but blanks, the Tigers will fancy their chances of springing an ambush here.

Head-to-head prediction: Newcastle Knights.

Betting tip: Under total match points.

Canterbury Bulldogs – BYE

There is perhaps no team more deserving of a week off than the Canterbury Bulldogs. They remain the only undefeated team left in the NRL this season, after shutting out the Knights 20-0 last start.
