The ever-unpredictable 2024 NRL season continues to shock and surprise. Last week the wounded Sharks beat the wounded Broncos at Lang Park no less. The Storm outlasted the Knights in a high scoring shootout to go top of the pops and the Warriors ousted themselves as the form team of the competition.

Throughout all this, there only remains one constant – the Tigers, who are consistently terrible.

They slumped to a new low and the foot of the ladder after copping 56 against the Dragons, who as a result, launched themselves into the top eight.

What will NRL round 15 bring? With plenty of mouthwatering matchups on the cards this week, there’s sure to be fireworks across the board, so let’s dive in.

Cronulla Sharks vs The Dolphins Prediction

Thursday, June 13, 7:50pm AEST – Shark Park

Kicking off NRL round 15 are two high performing sea creatures, the Sharks and the Dolphins.

Across 14 rounds both have swum into the top four, with the Dolphins in particular impressing in what is only their second ever NRL season.

While the Dolphins have won seven of the 12 games they’ve played this year, taking on this Sharks side (who are equal first) in their own backyard is a different kettle of fish.

If NSW No.7 Nicho Hynes returns to the side after being rested last week, they should be able to see off the Phins, seeing as they beat Brisbane in Brisbane last week without their main man’s services.

Head-to-head prediction: Cronulla Sharks.

Betting tip: SGM – Will Kennedy & Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow anytime try scorers.

Canberra Raiders vs North Queensland Cowboys Prediction

Friday, June 14, 6:00pm AEST – GIO Stadium

The Cowboys find themselves in a log jammed race for the eight and their crushing defeat at home against the Warriors last time out hasn’t helped their cause.

Todd Payten’s men continued their topsy turvy season backing up their remarkable road win against the Roosters with an absolute shocker in front of their own fans.

This week they travel to the nation’s capital where an in form and fully rested Raiders await. However, the have quite the recent record against the Green Machine. Will it continue this week?

Head-to-head prediction: North Queensland Cowboys.

Sugar says: The Cowboys have won four in a row against Canberra, and this is now do or die for them. Val Holmes needs a big one and if the Cowboys win, I think he picks up his 100th NRL try.

Betting tip: SGM – Cowboys H2H & Val Holmes anytime try scorer.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction

Friday, June 14, 8:00pm AEST – Stadium Australia

Run rabbit run. Are Souths undergoing an unlikely revival? They’ve booked two big wins on the spin which has showcased their, up until this point of the season, untapped attacking potential.

Unsurprisingly, their mini revival coincides with Latrell Mitchell’s return to form.

The mercurial fullback continued to push his case last week to be NSW’s series saviour as he terrorized the Titans.

Joseph Sua’ali’I’s suspension has opened a position in the Blues backline and boy does Mitchell know it. Look to him to continue his hot streak this week as selection for State of Origin Game 2 looms.

As for the result here, at home against the busted Broncos who will be without spine stalwarts Reece Walsh and Adam Reynolds, the Rabbits represent the value bet of the week.

Head-to-head prediction: South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Sugar says: Eleven right winger tries against the Broncos this year. Their left side is a real problem area. For context the leading try scorers in the NRL this season are also on 11 tries!

Sugar’s tip: Jacob Gagai anytime try scorer.

Wests Tigers vs Gold Coast Titans Prediction

Saturday, June 15, 3:00pm AEST – Leichhardt Oval

Two sides who conceded 102 points between them last week will meet in a clash where defence may be optional.

There’s not a lot to like about either of these sides, although this could make for good viewing for the neutrals.

The only differentiator between these teams we can find is home ground advantage, so it looks like we’re backing the Tigers to pick up a rare win.

Head-to-head prediction: Wests Tigers.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

New Zealand Warriors vs Melbourne Storm Prediction

Saturday, June 15, 5:30pm AEST – Go Media Stadium

The Wahs are back, pass it on. Three wins in a row against the likes of top four sides Penrith and the Dolphins, as well as putting 42 on the Cows in Townsville has seen the Warriors re-enter the finals race in style.

Now they face the biggest test in Rugby League at the moment, the table topping Melbourne Storm.

The good news for the Kiwis is they’re at home and coming off a bye. Yes, Melbourne won last week, but they conceded 28 points to Newcastle, at home no less.

There are certainly defensive frailties in Craig Bellamy’s side that can be exploited, if anyone was looking for an excuse to back another underdog.

You’d don’t have to ask us twice to ride a roughie around here, up the Wahs.

Head-to-head prediction: New Zealand Warriors.

Betting tip: Big win, little win Warriors 1-12.

Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Rooster Prediction

Saturday, June 15, 7:35pm AEST – CommBank Stadium

A few weeks ago, the Roosters would have been a no brainer tip here, the Eels were that bad.

However, the return of key men Mitchell Moses and Clint Gutherson for the Blue and Gold has changed things in Western Sydney.

With Moses keen to break back into the NSW side, we’re backing him to do everything in his power to try and drag his side across the line in this one, but to just come up short.

Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Roosters.

Betting tip: Mitchell Moses to score 10+ points.

Manly Sea Eagles vs St George Illawarra Dragons Prediction

Sunday, June 16, 2:00pm AEST – Brookvale Oval

Attention, Zac Lomax might be the form player of the competition. Fresh off his stunning Origin debut, the Dragon’s flyer grabbed a hat-trick in his side’s demolition job of the Tigers last week.

Not to be outdone, his opposite number this week Tommy Talau grabbed four meat pies in his side’s loss to Penrith last week.

Look to add them both to your bet slips in round 15, along with a Dragons win.

Head-to-head prediction: St George Illawarra Dragons.

Sugar says: Likely no Olakau’atu or Aloiai for Manly and the Dragons look super confident right now. Although Dragon’s are hard to trust on the road, there are still enough reasons at this price to jump on.

Sugar's tip: SGM - Dragons H2H, Zac Lomax and Tommy Talau to score two or more tries each.

Newcastle Knights vs Penrith Panthers Prediction

Sunday, June 16, 4:05pm AEST – McDonald Jones Stadium

The final game of NRL round 15 sees the Newcastle Knight welcome the Penrith Panthers to the Hunter Valley.

Penrith continue to be excellent despite missing the best player in the game, Nathan Cleary, and find themselves within striking distance of the top of the table.

They solidified their position in the top four last week against Manly thanks to a stunning Brian To’o hat-trick and we fancy him to cross the stripe first in this one to light the touchpaper for another Penrith victory.

Head-to-head prediction: Penrith Panthers.

Betting tip: Brain To’o first try scorer.

Canterbury Bulldogs – BYE

The Doggies get a week off to rest up after their showdown with traditional rivals Parramatta.
