NRL Tips and Predictions – Round 10

06/05/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

As the dust settles on another incredible Magic Round in Brisbane, the NRL roadshow rolls on as the home-and-away season reaches double-digits.

But what an intriguing weekend it was up in Brisbane with everyone (except for the Sea Eagles) under the one roof.

The Bulldogs, having already franked themselves as one of the teams to beat this year, got back on the winners' list and scooted ahead to be a game clear on top of the ladder

It sets up an absolute banger of a match in the nation's capital on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Raiders in a top-of-the-table clash.

And, as we all thought they would at some point the Panthers pulled themselves off the bottom of the ladder to embarrass the Broncos at home and add some more misery to their season. Nathan the Great finally got going too. Which is enough to fire a warning shot to everyone, despite where they may currently sit on the table.

But as they say, a week is a long time in footy and even longer in Rugby League.

Are the Knights legit? Are the Dolphins better than their ladder position says they are? And how might the Storm bounce back after another visceral spray from coach Craig?

Let’s find out, for all the latest news, analysis, odds, and betting tips check out our expert NRL Round 10 tips and predictions.

Parramatta Eels vs The Dolphins Prediction

Thursday, May 8, 7:50pm AEST – CommBank Stadium

It’s hard to measure just how much the impact of one man can have on a team's performance and resurgence, but that is exactly what Mitchell Moses has done for the Eels.

While they are still sitting on just the two wins for the year and didn’t get over the line over the Sharkies in Magic Round, they did make them sweat. Requiring a straight kick from Nicho Hynes to put the result beyond doubt in the final minutes.

The Eels would be buoyed by the form of the Foxx, who crossed the line twice against the Sharks to continue his bright start at his newest club.

They’ll want him firing again coming up against the Dolphins, who despite being fourth last, boast the best defensive line in the bottom eight.

After another narrow loss to the Chooks, you get the sense it’s only a matter of time before they put a full 80-minute performance together. Maybe it’s this week against a one or two-man Eels show?

Head-to-head prediction: The Dolphins.

Betting tip: SGM: Hamiso Tabuadi-Fidow + Josh Addo-Carr anytime try scorers.

Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans Prediction

Friday, May 9, 6:00pm AEST – McDonald Jones Stadium

A week is a long time in footy they say. How the tide changes quickly in the NRL.

A week ago, the Knights were sitting at the bottom of the ladder. Now they are up in 12th place and back in the pack after thumping the Bunnies.

Despite this, we still aren’t quite sure if we rate the Knights yet… and we’re probably going to be none the wiser after this week too when they host the Titans at home under Friday night lights.

Fletcher Sharpe has been a revelation at No.6 for the Knights, his run of form has been the highlight of their season to date.

Expect to see him link with KP for some strong right-side carries, busting through an unsettled Titans defense.

Things haven’t been so golden for Dessy and the boys on the Gold Coast this season. Things have gone so wrong that it prompted the veteran coach to drop his star player David Fifita last week. It was a bold move then, and even more puzzling now after the fact. Will he get a recall this week?

We’re on the home side this week, but as we said, we’re still not sure if they are any good or not.

Head-to-head prediction: Newcastle Knights.

Betting tip: Fletcher Sharpe first try scorer.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction

Friday, May 9, 8:00pm AEST – Accor Stadium

Can the super-coach save his floundering team?

The Bunnies are in free-fall having dropped four of their past five matches and require a miracle or two to save their season.

Luckily for them, they host the equally wobbly Broncos, who dropped a game to the previously rudderless Panthers. They would be having some awful deja vu this week after witnessing Nathan Cleary do what he did again to give the entire Bronx nation a cold shiver down the spine.

They were thoroughly out-gunned though. And now there is a decision to make for Michael Maguire. Does he go youth or experience?

The experienced all-star pairing of Hunt and Reynolds must be studied. Despite their hundreds of games experience, they cannot force this team to consistently dominate week in, week out, expect the addition of Ezra Mam back into the training squad to light a fire under Hunt.

Bunnies import Lewis Dodd finally got on the park for a run, but the combination of Dodd and Sullivan in the halves is not the answer. We think this will be blown up again in a few weeks with the return of Humphreys and Walker. But for the very least, they will get another chance to impress Wayne this week.

Who will respond to the embarrassing loss the best? It might be another long night for the master coach…

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos.

Betting tip: Selwyn Cobbo anytime try scorer.

Canberra Raiders vs Canterbury Bulldogs Prediction

Saturday, May 10, 3:00pm AEST – GIO Stadium

It’s a top-of-the-table clash in the nation's capital! The perfect occasion to mark one week on from a federal election is to have a big game of Ruby League staged down the road.

This Raiders team, who most people tipped as bottom-nine battlers, have wined and dined out on the rest of the competition. Their latest victim was the Storm, who they took down to close out Magic Round.

Ricky Stuart has put together a tenacious young team who have powered their way to second place on the NRL ladder. Now they get a free hit at the ladder - leading Bulldogs, at home, to test their mettle and see where they stand this season.

The Dogs though must be loving the view from up top. They got back on the winners' list by feasting on the lowly Titans and have moved a game clear of the rest of the competition.

But they will have to be on again this week, as the Raiders have proven they are no joke.

Look out for their forward pack to get a run through the middle. The Bulldogs have one of the smallest, yet talented packs in the competition and will have the likes of Tapine, Papallii, Young, and the Horse all licking their lips.

This should be a belter. The Raiders have been perfect at home this year and we’re looking at that to continue on here, in a try fest!

Head-to-head prediction: Canberra Raiders.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

St George Illawarra Dragons vs New Zealand Warriors Prediction

Saturday, May 10, 5:30pm AEST – WIN Stadium

The Wahs slugged out another impressive win against the Cowboys and now find themselves entrenched in the top four. Chalk and cheese compared to this time last year and even the start of this one.

Andrew Webster deserves all the credit here. He has them fit and firing at the right time to really push their case forward and bank some more wins with the Origin period coming up.

The Dragons, despite another close game, came up short again against the Tigers, and they fell to their fifth loss of the season.

They have a nice blend of experience and youth, but we’re expecting them to be outgunned in almost every department here against a Warriors side that will look to slice its way through the aging Dragons backline.

Head-to-head prediction: New Zealand Warriors.

Betting tip: Valentine Holmes anytime try scorer.

North Queensland Cowboys vs Penrith Panthers Prediction

Saturday, May 10, 7:35pm AEST – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

There is a light at the end of the Panthers' tunnel!

Of course, it was their talisman Nathan Clearly, who put his team on his back for the umpteenth time and clicked his team into gear for the first time this season.

After a big bounce-back win over the Broncos that lifted the four-time reigning premiers off the bottom of the ladder, they will continue their sojourn in the sunshine state as they head further north to battle the Cowboys.

The Cowboys, coming off a close loss to the Warriors, are one of several teams on the outside of the top eight looking in, but look like the classic middle-of-the-road team. They have the talent and star power, yet keep lacking the killer instinct to get over the line.

The dominant forward pack of the Cowboys will be their trump card, dominating the ruck. If the Panthers somehow get it done then this game will probably be won via the Panthers capitalizing on the Cowboys' errors, rather than the Panthers' star power that is slowly filtering back into first grade.

Can Cleary carry his side again though? He has the miles in the legs now, but he might need some friends to go with him this week.

Head-to-head prediction: North Queensland Cowboys.

Betting tip: Big win little win - Cowboys 1-12.

Melbourne Storm vs West Tigers Prediction

Sunday, May 11, 2:00pm AEST – AAMI Park

This isn’t the same Melbourne Storm that started the season as the raging premiership favourites?

Two losses in three weeks have seen them lose their grip on the top two and have stumbled down to fourth place. Still a strong place to be, but they are starting to feel the loss of skipper Harry Grant.

And after what they dished up against the Raiders on Sunday, you can bet your bottom dollar that Craig Bellamy would be giving them a fair old clipping and having them charged up for this one.

While they return home and prepare to host the Tigers, it might not be a casual walk in the park after the Tigers have strung a pair of gutsy wins together to find themselves inside the top eight for the first time in what feels like forever.

Benji will know that despite the form of Terrel May, his forward pack will need to be at their best to not be outgunned by the trio of Stefano, NAS, and Kamikamika. So look for that halves pairing to engage the outside backs along the ground, rather than meeting the towering Storm wingers in the air.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, I wouldn’t want to be coming up against the Storm, at home and coming off a loss like that.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Storm.

Betting tip: Xavier Coates first try scorer.

Manly Sea Eagles vs Cronulla Sharks Prediction

Sunday, May 11, 4:05pm AEST – Brookvale Oval

After putting their feet up last week, having drawn the short straw to miss out on Magic Round, the Sea Eagles are back at home hosting the Sharkies to close the round out.

It’s a youthful Sea Eagles backline that will look to challenge the Sharks through the air with their speed and height. Cherry-Evans & Brook’s kicking games are some of the best in the league and if given the chance, they can be deadly hitting targets out wide.

The Sharks remain a mystery so far in 2025. Despite Nicho Hynes kicking them to safety last week, he has taken a backward step this year and let Brayden Trindell run this team.

The star-studded team sits sixth on the table and has set themselves up nicely. But look for them to try to turn this one into a contested grind against a much larger forward pack. They will look to open up the middle and draw out the tired errors that we know Manly can make.

Still, we're backing the refreshed home side to get the job done here.

Head-to-head prediction: Manly Sea Eagles.

Betting tip: Samuel Stonestreet first try scorer.

Sydney Roosters – BYE

It’s been an up-and-down year so far for the Roosters. At four wins and five losses, they haven’t really been able to gather any steam or momentum this year.

They get a week off to refresh now and try to figure out some of their combinations before the inevitable Origin period unavailabilities hit.

NRL 2025 Premiership Odds
