Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm Prediction – Round 20 2026

16/07/2026|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The Melbourne Storm will look to continue their push towards the finals when travelling to face the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.

The Storm’s season remains alive after a thrilling yet controversial 22-18 win over the Titans on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Roosters are among Penrith's biggest premiership challengers and remain level on points with the second-placed Warriors after defeating the Eels 28-12 on Saturday.

Origin stars Reece Robson and Sam Walker are back for Trent Robinson, along with Nat Butcher, who returns from suspension.

Robert Toia is listed among the reserves, while James Tedesco and Lindsay Collins remain sidelined with concussion.

Craig Bellamy will be missing Jahrome Hughes and Joe Chan due to injury. Oryn Keeley and Harry Grant come into the starting side, while winger Moses Leo returns from a head knock.

The Storm won 18-4 when these sides met in Round 13 earlier this season. Can they run it back here?

Roosters vs Storm Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

NRL Round 20 will serve up an absolute beauty under Friday night lights when the Sydney Roosters welcome the Melbourne Storm to Allianz Stadium.

One of the great modern rivalries, these two teams have been at each other’s throats over the last decade.

A few months ago, this would have been an epic mismatch with the Storm languishing near the foot of the ladder. However, they’ve won six of their last eight to rocket back into finals contention.

The official team lists will shed more light on this one, with the potential participation of Roosters skipper James Tedesco the biggest question mark hanging over this contest.

The reigning Dally M medallist failed a HIA during Origin Game 3 and is in doubt for this one.

Melbourne have injury problems of their own however, with news breaking that their own Origin star, Cameron Munster is set to miss the next six weeks with a knee problem.

This would be a statement win for the Storm and a warning shot to the rest of the competition; however, we are doubtful they will be able to get it done here on the road without their main man Munster.
