Sydney Rooster vs The Dolphins Prediction – Round 9 2025

30/04/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The Sydney Roosters have pulled one of the short straws this weekend and technically host the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium in Magic Round despite Lang Park being the Dolphins’ home stadium.

The good news for the Chooks is that they’ll enter this clash on the back of a resounding ANZAC Day win, after they dismantled the Dragons 46-18 last start.

That win moves them up to 13th place, one spot behind the Dolphins, who had their three-match winning streak brought to a screeching halt last week as they lost their grip on a 28-10 half-time lead, conceding 30 unanswered points to go down against Canberra.

Trent Robinson will put the same 17 out for Magic Round, hoping to maintain the momentum the Tricolours showcased last week.

For Kristian Woolf’s men, Felise Kaufusi returns, with the Dolphins hoping the prop can limit the damage of losing Daniel Saifiti.

Influential rake Jeremy Marshall-King has also been named as the Dolphins look to keep their unbeaten record in Magic Round alive.

Let’s take a look at the rest of the team lists for these two sides, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Roosters vs Dolphins prediction.

Roosters vs Dolphins Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Perhaps no team has quite encapsulated this season's unpredictability like the Sydney Roosters have.

One week upsetting the Panthers, then losing to the Warriors. Then upsetting the Broncos at Suncorp, then playing the Panthers again and this time losing.

After their barnstorming win over the Dragons on ANZAC day we can no longer keep up. Which Roosters side will show up to Suncorp on Friday night? Your guess is as good as ours.

Luckily, we have a more accurate idea of which Dolphins side will show. Being one of two teams this week who will have a home-ground advantage is a huge tick in the plus column, as is their recent form.

They’ve won three of their last four and are on a hat-trick at Suncorp after knocking off the Storm and Panthers on the hallow turf of Lang Park in quick succession. For us, it’s Phins up here.

Betting tip: The Dolphins.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Dolphins’ fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has scored at least one try in three of his side’s last four matches.

A magical player for a magical round, The Hammer particularly loves playing at home, so we’re backing him to open the scoring here.

Betting tip: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.

Over/Under Prediction

Both the Roosters and the Dolphins respective matches last week both eclipsed the 60-point mark.

Both of these sides are known to score and concede points at a rate of knots, so it’s no surprise we’re backing the total match points of this contest to go over the set line of 48.5.

Betting tip: Over total match points.
