The high-flying Brisbane Broncos will look to continue their impressive start to 2025 when they face off against the Sydney Roosters for the second time already this season.
Their opening round meeting saw the Broncos put the competition on notice with a 50-14 victory and since then it’s mostly been more of the same, with last week seeing them turn in a 32-12 second half to crush the Tigers.
The Roosters responded following their round 1 shellacking with a massive upset against the Panthers but since then it’s been three straight defeats to find themselves 16th on the ladder.
In an effort to stop the rot, the Sydney has axed veteran Chad Townsend in favour of young halfback Hugo Savala for his first career start.
Meanwhile Lindsay Collins has been ruled out for six weeks, with Nat Butcher shifting to prop and Victor Radley returning from injury at lock.
Will a new No.7 and the return of Victor the Inflictor be enough to help the Roosters to an almighty upset at Lang Park? Or will it be business as usual for the barnstorming Broncos?
Let’s take a look at how these two teams will line up on Friday night, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer and over/under markets. This is our Broncos vs Roosters prediction.

Broncos vs Roosters Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
In a season full of ups and down, the Brisbane Broncos are one of the few teams who seem to have found consistency.
Now that we’ve said that, watch them go and lose to the 16th placed Roosters at home. That’s the type of season this has been.
Broncos skipper Adam Reynold has been named despite seemingly injuring his hamstring after scoring a stunning chip and chase against the Tigers. So, keep an eye on the late mail heading into this one.
However, squaring up against a team they’ve already beaten 50-14 away from home this season, with or without Reynolds, we won’t be backing against the Broncos here.
Particularly at home and particularly against a Roosters outfit that has lost each of its last 11 matches against opponents in the top four.
Betting tip: Brisbane Broncos.
First Try Scorer Prediction
After missing out on the opening round party down in Sydney through injury, Kotoni Staggs will no doubt be keen to make up for lost time and get on the scoreboard early in this one.
To further put the ball in his court, stats show that Staggs has scored a try in each of Brisbane's last three home matches against Sydney.
Betting tip: Kotoni Staggs.
Over Under Prediction
Six of Sydney's last seven matches at Suncorp Stadium have gone over the total match points line.
For whatever reason these two sides like to provide plenty of points when they meet on the hallowed turf of Lang Park, and we’re tipping that trend to continue on Friday night.
Betting tip: Over total match points.
