Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction – Round 9 2026

01/05/2026|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

In what shapes to be one of the more anticipated clashes of Round 9, the Roosters host the Broncos on Saturday night.

Rattling off four consecutive wins and hitting top gear over the past month, the Roosters are firmly planting their flag as genuine premiership contenders.

The Roosters have scored 167 points total in their last month of games, stamping themselves as one of the best attacking teams in the competition.

For the tri-colours, this match against the Broncos will be a true test to their current form, as Brisbane are currently on a two-game winning streak as they lose players to injuries left right and centre.

Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane Broncos Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Brisbane welcome back some significant firepower this week, with star fullback Reece Walsh returning from a facial fracture and foot laceration, while co-captain Patrick Carrigan comes back from suspension to start at lock.

Carrigan’s return pushes Xavier Willison into the second row to cover the injured Brendan Piakura, setting up a fascinating battle between Willison and the Roosters enforcers.

The halves matchups are equally mouthwatering, with veteran playmakers Daly Cherry-Evans and Adam Reynolds, both members of the 300-game club, squaring off in what could be a chess match that decides the result.

We expect the Roosters to continue their form and defeat the Broncos, but do expect a tight contest, and with two storied clubs going head to head and a host of storylines surrounding both sides, this is as good as regular season footy gets.

Betting tip: Sydney Roosters.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Kotoni Staggs has scored the first try of the game twice this season, and the Roosters defence hasn’t been quite tested against quality teams recently, they could have another slow start in the first half against a Broncos side with an elite game manager in Adam Reynolds finding his centre to start the scoring.

Betting tip: Kotoni Staggs

Over/Under Prediction

Each of Sydney's last five matches have gone over the total match points line.

Betting tip: Over (51.5) total match points.

Line Prediction

Brisbane has covered the line in each of its last seven away matches.

Betting tip: Broncos (+4.5) line.
