Sitting pretty at the top of the ladder, the Canberra Raiders are coming off their second bye of the season to host the Parramatta Eels at GIO Stadium in the first of Saturday’s triple-header.

The Raiders battered the Eels earlier this season, winning a 50-12 romp in Darwin. Recently it’s been more of a grind for the Green Machine, winning each of their last three by four points, but nonetheless they’ve won seven in a row overall to put themselves in a great position to claim the minor premiership.

The Eels started brightly but were ultimately no match for the Panthers last week, which was the final nail in their coffin for season 2025.

With Ryley Smith back from suspension at hooker and rookie Joash Papalii preferred at five-eighth, departing Eels star Dylan Brown has been left out in a huge statement from the Blue and Gold hierarchy.

The Raiders have been bolstered by the return of Origin stars Josh Papalii and Hudson Young meaning, it’s only going to be all the more difficult for Parra to score an upset here.

Let’s take a look at some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets for this one. This is our Raiders vs Eels prediction.

Raiders vs Eels Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Wondering what the second major mismatch of NRL round 20 was? Well, wonder no more.

The first-placed Canberra Raiders welcome the Parramatta Eels, who currently sit 15th, to GIO Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Mismatch doesn’t even begin to cover it, Canberra have turned their home into a complete fortress this season, while the Eels are in complete disarray without their main man Mitchell Moses.

No need for over-the-top analysis here, check the table, check the form guide and act accordingly. Canberra by plenty.

Betting tip: Canberra Raiders.

First Try Scorer Prediction

There’s one man who seems to simply relish playing the Eels. Canberra winger Xavier Savage has scored a try in each of his last three appearances against Parramatta and that’s why we’re backing him to be the one to open the scoring here.

Betting tip: Xavier Savage.

Over/Under Prediction

While in recent weeks Canberra have been grinding their way to wins, we don’t think that will be the case here.

The jig is up for the Eels in 2025 and seeing as they conceded 50 last time they faced Canberra, we fear for them here.

Away from home against the ladder leaders, with an undermanned and experimental line up and nothing to play for, it could really start raining points in their direction.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

Raiders vs Eels Teams

Canberra Raiders Team List

1. Kaeo Weekes

2. Jed Stuart

3. Matthew Timoko

4. Sebastian Kris

5. Xavier Savage

6. Ethan Strange

7. Jamal Fogarty

8. Josh Papali'i

9.
