South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Wests Tigers Prediction – Round 3 2026

20/03/2026|SB Staff|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

The South Sydney Rabbitohs will take their first home game of the season to Gosford’s Polytec Stadium, where they welcome the Wests Tigers on Saturday night.

Friday’s 26-18 loss to the Roosters slightly soured what was a historic night of rugby league, with South Sydney’s Alex Johnston becoming the most prolific try-scorer the game has ever seen.

Hoping to notch their second win of the season, Souths must overcome a Tigers team fresh off a brilliant opener, piling on 44 points to crush the Cowboys in front of a rampant Leichhardt Oval crowd.

Just one change for the Bunnies this week as Lachlan Hubner drops out of the 17 with Jamie Humphreys making his season debut at halfback, pushing Jayden Sullivan to the bench.

Taylan May’s injury sees Jeral Skelton called into the starting lineup for the Tigers. These sides met once last season, seeing the Rabbitohs claim a 22-12 win at Campbelltown.

Can the Bunnies run it back here? For the latest news, odds and analysis ahead of this Gosford gathering, check out our Rabbitohs vs Tigers tips and predictions below.

Rabbitohs vs Tigers Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Alright South Sydney, you can go back to solely focusing on winning footy games. There were scenes that will be etched into eternity when Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston broke the NRL’s all-time try scoring record against fierce rivals the Roosters last week.

Unfortunately, once in a generation moments don’t always translate into competition points and while the Bunnies won the headline battle, it was the Roosters who won the war.

Still, with all the fanfare, expectation and potential pitch invasions behind them, this Souths side is certainly capable of making plenty of noise on the field this season.

They are also set to welcome back boom rookie halfback Jamie Humphreys finally, meaning they are as healthy as they have been in months.

While we were impressed with the Tigers 44-16 win over the Cowboys last start and in particular new signing Kai Pearce-Paul, a fully focused Rabbitohs side, this close to full-strength, is impossible to ignore.

Betting tip: South Sydney Rabbitohs.

First Try Scorer Prediction

After 213, what’s one more try to Alex Johnston? There are worse people to add to your bet slip when it comes to this market than the greatest try scorer the game has ever seen.

If AJ’s record-breaking efforts last start weren’t enough to win you over, his recent record against this particular opponent might be.

Johnston has scored at least one try in each of his last three appearances against the Wests Tigers.

Betting tip: Alex Johnston.

Betting tip: Under (53.5) total match points.
