South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Melbourne Storm Prediction – Round 16 2025
19/06/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will look to score a rare victory over the Melbourne Storm when they meet at Accor Stadium on Saturday night.

This has been quite the one-sided rivalry, with Melbourne currently holding a 35-7 record against Souths.

The Storm come in well-rested after a bye, which followed their 38-14 victory over the Cowboys. In a cruel turn of unfortunate scheduling, this marks the Rabbitohs’ fourth straight contest against top four opposition, with the latest a 24-18 loss to the Bulldogs.

That result saw injuries to Jye Gray, Jayden Sullivan and Keaon Koloamatangi, all of whom will miss this clash. Latrell Mitchell has been named to back up from Origin, while Lewis Dodd comes in at five-eighth, and Davvy Moale jumps into the starting pack with Sean Keppie joining the bench.

Craig Bellamy has named his Origin quintet, but will they actually play? For now, that means Melbourne’s only change is Bronson Garlick joining the bench in place of Ativalu Lisati.

Let’s have a look at the full team lists for this clash, along with some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Rabbitohs vs Storm prediction.

Rabbitohs vs Storm Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Bunnies bright start to the season is now just an afterthought, as age, injuries, and bad form have taken their toll on Wayne Bennett’s side.

They face a refreshed Storm side coming off a bye this week, although it remains to be seen who will back up for this one after Origin, so keep an eye on the late mail before locking in your final tip.

For us, the Storm are easily the more appealing of the two teams at the moment, particularly when you consider that South Sydney have lost each of their last 13 matches against opponents that were ranked in the top four.

Betting tip: Melbourne Storm.

First Try Scorer Prediction

The only bright side for the Bunnies at the moment seems to be the form of veteran winger Alex Johnston.

The Rabbitohs flyer has scored at least one try in each of South Sydney's last four matches and has officially crossed the 200 try mark in the NRL and is rapidly approaching Ken Irvine’s all-time record.

Look to him to take another step towards becoming the greatest try scorer in NRL history this weekend.

Betting tip: Alex Johnston.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of South Sydney's last six night matches have gone under the total match points line.

We’re backing this trend to continue under the lights of Accor Stadium on Saturday night.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
