South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels Prediction – Round 24 2025
14/08/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
Having just escaped the 17th spot on the NRL table, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have a chance to ascend further away from Wayne Bennett’s inaugural wooden spoon when they clash with the Parramatta Eels on Saturday night.

After a wretched couple of months, the Rabbitohs finally returned to the winners list last week, claiming a 20-18 victory in an early edition of the ‘spoon bowl’ against the now-bottom-placed Titans.

A win by 22+ points on Saturday would see Souths leapfrog Parramatta. That may not be straightforward given the Eels picked up their second win in three matches as Mitch Moses’ late field goal sealed a 19-18 victory over the Cowboys last Sunday.

Just one change for the Rabbitohs sees Shaquai Mitchell named in place of Lachlan Hubner (concussion) while Jason Ryles keeps the same personnel for Parramatta.

Souths half Cody Walker and Eels fullback Isaiah Iongi are lurking in the reserves as they press to return from injury, so keep an eye on the late mail.

Rabbitohs vs Eels Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

There is an argument to be made that Parramatta’s Mitchell Moses is the most influential player in the game at the moment.

It is genuinely astounding to see the difference when he is part of the Blue and Gold ranks. He led the Eels to another win last start, slotting the decisive field goal in a 19-18 win over the Cowboys and now has his sights set on the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Speaking of influential players, how about that Latrell Mitchell? His return couldn’t have come sooner for the busted Bunnies, as they just snuck past the Titans to climb off the bottom of the ladder.

Mitchell was one of the main factors for that result and it will be interesting to see if he can offset Parra’s Mitchell, or will Moses part the Red and Green Sea? We think the latter.

Betting tip: Parramatta Eels.

First Tryscorer Prediction

After a week off from tipping him, we’re back on board with our main man for this market. Alex Johnston has scored at least one try in each of South Sydney's last four home matches against Parramatta.

He also punished us last start by not only opening the scoring, but also crossing for a double, to draw even closer to Ken.

Betting tip: Alex Johnston.
