Penrith Panthers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Prediction – Round 20 2025

The Penrith Panthers clearly aren’t too concerned at the prospect of facing the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday night, as they’ve decided to rest both Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo.

You can’t really blame them either, not only has South’s recent form been atrocious but they’ve also lost each of its last 11 matches against teams on a winning streak.

This run of results coupled with one of the worst injury crises in recent NRL history (just this week Cody Walker was ruled out for the rest of the season), has the Bunnies dangerously close to their first wooden spoon in nearly two decades.

That particular kitchen utensil is something that has eluded master coach Wayne Bennett for his entire career and if he wants to keep it off his resume, he’ll need to kick his troops into gear, starting here against the recently reborn Panthers.

Can the Bunnies snap their run of six straight losses? Or will the purring Panthers make it seven wins in succession? Let’s find out!

Here are some betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets for this game. As well as the full team lists for both sides. This is our Panthers vs Rabbitohs prediction.

Panthers vs Rabbitohs Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The first of two mammoth mismatches in NRL round 20 takes place at CommBank Stadium on Friday night.

The purring Panthers will be looking to pounce on struggling South Sydney and shoot for their sixth straight win.

Speaking off sixth, that’s where the reigning back-to-back-to-back-to-back premiers currently sit and they’ve got all those above them firmly in their crosshairs.

Six seems to be the number here, seeing as that’s also how many games Souths have lost in a row, to sit 16th in the standings.

We’re tipping that to become seven and if the Titans win, for 16th to become 17th.

Betting tip: Penrith Panthers.

First Try Scorer Prediction

Despite the Rabbitohs’ rotten run, we simply can’t stay away from tipping our main man Alex Johnston in the first try scorer market.

No matter how the Bunnies are travelling Johnston more often than not seems to find his way to the tryline.

He also doesn’t mind playing in form teams, in fact, stats show that he actually prefers it. Johnston has scored at least one try in each of his last five appearances against opponents that were ranked in the top eight.

Betting tip: Alex Johnston.

Over/Under Prediction

Each of Penrith's last six home matches have gone under the total match points line. To get out of their early season slump, they reinvented themselves as kings of the grind.

They seem content to grind out assured yet low scoring results and have done so for the past six weeks straight. We also don’t see the Rabbitohs bringing too many points to the party with so many of their top players sidelined.

Betting tip: Under total match points.

Panthers vs Rabbitohs Teams

Penrith Panthers Team List

1. Dylan Edwards

2. Thomas Jenkins

3. Paul Alamoti

4. Casey McLean

5. Brian To'o

6. Blaize Talagi

7. Brad Schneider

8. Moses Leota

9. Matt Eisenhuth

South Sydney Rabbitohs Team List

1. Latrell Mitchell

2. Alex Johnston

3. Isaiah Tass

4. Tallis Duncan

5. Tyrone Munro

6. Jack Wighton

7. Jamie Humphreys

8. Tevita Tatola

9. Siliva Havili

10. Keaon Koloamatangi

11. Euan Aitken

12. Jacob Host

13. Jai Arrow

14. Peter Mamouzelos

15. Lachlan Hubner

16. Sean Keppie

17. Lewis Dodd

Panthers vs Rabbitohs Match Details

Date: Friday, July 18, 2025.

Kick-off: 8:00pm AEST.

Location: CommBank Stadium, Sydney.
