NRLW Tips and Predictions – Round 8

18/08/2026|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips

NRLW Round 8 arrives at a pivotal moment for a lot of clubs in the competition. The finals picture is sharpening, the judiciary has been busy, and several sides are managing key absences heading into what could be a season-defining weekend.

The Gold Coast Titans carry the form of the competition into a home clash with a depleted Brisbane Broncos, the Sydney Roosters are heavy favourites over the New Zealand Warriors, and the Cronulla Sharks face a tricky test against an Eels side that's found their feet.

With storylines aplenty bubbling away beneath the surface, let’s get the magnifying glass out and take a closer look at every game taking place in NRLW Round 8.

For the latest analysis, news and betting tips for all of this weekend’s action, check out our NRLW Round 8 tips and predictions below.

Newcastle Knights Women vs Wests Tigers Women Prediction

Saturday, August 22, 12:45pm AEST – McDonald Jones Stadium

NRLW Round 8 opens with the desperate Knights welcoming the history-chasing Tigers to McDonald Jones Stadium.

The head-to-head market tells you everything you need to know about how tight this one is expected to be.

The Knights sit seventh and, realistically, need to win every remaining match to make the finals.

Last week's home loss to the Raiders, in which they blew a second-half comeback lead, will no doubt still sting.

The good news for Newcastle is that Tayla Predebon returns from suspension. The bad news is that Sidney Taylor and Tiana Davison are both facing possible warnings from the judiciary, adding some distraction heading into a must-win game.

Meanwhile, the Tigers who are sitting fourth and chasing their first-ever finals appearance, are riding a wave of genuine momentum.

Lily Rogan's double and Faythe Manera's try powered them to a 30–22 win over the Warriors last week and shows that they're playing with confidence.

All in all, the Tigers are in better form, have nothing to fear away from home, and the Knights are under enormous pressure. We like a Wests’ win here.

Betting tip: Wests Tigers Women

Canterbury Bulldogs Women vs Canberra Raiders Women Prediction

Saturday, August 22, 3:15pm AEST – Belmore Sports Ground

The Raiders arrive in form to this NRLW Round 8 clash, while the Bulldogs arrive shorthanded.

Tamika Jones has been suspended for two matches following her Round 7 charge, which is a significant blow to Canterbury's backline.

The Bulldogs also dropped a 30–18 result to the Eels last week, a loss that no doubt stings given it came against the competition's bottom side.

Canberra, meanwhile, are on a genuine hot streak. Back-to-back wins over the Broncos and the Knights, including that second-half comeback in Newcastle, have the Raiders looking dangerous.

Sheridan Gallagher is facing a possible fine or suspension for a tripping charge, which bears watching, but the Raiders' depth should absorb that if it eventuates.

Form, squad depth, and a depleted opposition are making us lean heavily towards a comfortable Canberra victory here.

Betting tip: Canberra Raiders Women

St George Illawarra Dragons Women vs North Queensland Cowboys Women Prediction

Saturday, August 22, 5:15pm AEST – Allianz Stadium

Both sides are coming off different results heading into NRLW Round 8. The Dragons were thumped 26–10 by the Titans, a result that set a new Gold Coast club record for consecutive wins.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys accounted for the Sharks 30–18, in a strong performance, but they now face a Dragons side that will be motivated to respond.

The Dragons are slight favourites at 1.80 and hold home-ground advantage at Allianz.

Home-ground advantage and an immediate bounce-back motivation makes the Dragons value here, even as the favourite.

Betting tip: St George Dragons Women.

Gold Coast Titans Women vs Brisbane Broncos Women Prediction

Sunday, August 23, 11:50am AEST – Cbus Super Stadium

This is easily the most intriguing fixture of NRLW Round 8. The Broncos are slight favourites despite the Titans sitting on a club-record six consecutive wins.

Brisbane are also managing significant absences, Ali Brigginshaw remains suspended until Round 9, and Brianna Clark has now been suspended for two matches as well, making their favouritism all the more strange.

Two key players absent, an opponent on a record-breaking winning streak, and playing away from home? There could be plenty of value to be had stepping away from the Broncos here.

Betting tip: Gold Coast Titans Women.

Sydney Roosters Women vs New Zealand Warriors Women Prediction

Sunday, August 23, 1:45pm AEST – Allianz Stadium

The Roosters are the heaviest favourites of NRLW Round 8, and their form justifies that.

Brydie Parker's hat-trick and Tarryn Aiken's three try assists powered the Tricolours to 34–20 victory of the Broncos last week in a rematch of last year’s grand final.

The win, which was one of the more complete performances of the NRLW season so far, sees the Chooks now roosting on top of the ladder.

The Warriors, by contrast, fell 30–22 to the Tigers last week. The Wahs have had a difficult season, and at 4.00, the market sees very little path to an upset here.

The Roosters are in clinical form and at home, while the Warriors are coming off a loss, no prizes for guessing our pick here.

Betting tip: Sydney Roosters Women.

Cronulla Sharks Women vs Parramatta Eels Women Prediction

Sunday, August 23, 6:15pm AEST – Ocean Protect Stadium

The final match of NRLW Round 8 comes with a major injury caveat. Georgia Hannaway, a key figure in the Sharks' backline this season, appeared to suffer a knee injury late in last week's 30–18 loss to the Cowboys.

If she's unavailable, Cronulla's depth is seriously tested ahead of a game they'd normally expect to win.

The Eels, meanwhile, are riding the momentum of their first win of the 2026 season. The 30–18 defeat of Canterbury also saw Layne Morgan make her debut, injecting some freshness into a side that's been chasing shadows all year.

Don't underestimate what a confidence-building win can do for a squad that's been under pressure.

Jaydika Tafua is also facing a possible fine or suspension for a Dangerous Contact charge, which could further disrupt Cronulla's preparations.

With Hannaway's fitness uncertain and a potential Tafua suspension, there’s genuine value to be had backing an Eels outfit coming off their first win.

Betting tip: Parramatta Eels Women.
