Parramatta Eels vs Cronulla Sharks

Thursday, May 30th, 7: 45 PM AEST – Commbank Stadium

Blimey, Wasn’t that a week from hell for the Eels?

They parted ways with coach Brad Arthur, and then nearly conceded a half-century to the Rabbitohs.

It was another chapter in the Eels season of woe, and there might be another one being written when they run into the ladder-leading Sharks.

The Sharks had a week they’d rather forget after they were held scoreless and conceded over 40 points against the Panthers.

The loss of star playmaker Nicho Hynes didn’t help, but they will be without him this week anyway through Origin selection.

Sharks coach Craig Fitzsimmons will be hoping that it was just a blip on the radar and his team can elevate their pressure against the struggling Eels. And get a quick win to put them back on course.

Betting tip: Maika Sivo anytime try scorer

Newcastle Knights vs Canterbury Bulldogs Prediction

Friday, May 31st, 8: 00 PM AEST, McDonald Jones Stadium

As far as bye weeks go, this one was pretty damn good for the Knights.

They put their feet up and rose a few places on the ladder to further entrench themselves in the top eight.

But that doesn’t mean they can be afforded the luxury of taking their foot off the gas. Especially this week when they come up against the Bulldogs – one of the teams fighting for one of those spots in the bottom part of the top eight.

The Dogs could seemingly do no wrong in the second half against the Dragons, running in seven tries among 38 unanswered points to romp home.

The Dogs will lose superstar Stephen Crichton to Origin selection, while Origin selections won’t impact the Knights.

They should keep their momentum rolling after the bye.

Head-to-head prediction: Knights

Betting tip: Big win/ Little win – Knights 1-12

Penrith Panthers vs St George Illawarra Dragons Prediction

Saturday, June 1st, 5: 30 PM AEST, Bluebet Stadium

Saturday footy kicks off at the home of the Panthers when they take on the Dragons.

Boy, didn’t these two sides have contrasting weekends last week? The Panthers won big and didn’t concede, While the Dragons not only lost a lead and conceded plenty, but lost a few important soldiers along the way.

While they arrive at Penrith to face a Panthers side without several of their first-choice team because they’ve gone to play Origin, it’s still a mighty tall order facing the Dragons side who is tumbling down the ladder.

A task made even tougher without Zac Lomax, Jaydn Su’A and Ben Hunt who are both now in respective Origin camps and not their club this week.

Head-to-head prediction: Panthers

Betting tip: Jack De Belin anytime try scorer

The Dolphins vs Canberra Raiders Prediction

Saturday, June 1st, 7: 35 PM AEST, Kayo Stadium

An intriguing battle between two top-eight teams here.

The Dolphins' weeks would have been just slightly disrupted with the unsettling news that Wayne Bennet was announced to be the head coach of another team this week. That ultimately showed when they dropped the game to the Warriors on Sunday evening.

It was a very undisciplined showing from the Dolphins, giving away five penalties to the Warriors none.

Ricky’s Raiders also didn’t have a fun time last week, as the Roosters crushed them. A result that has left them only just clinging to a spot in the top eight.

You’d sense that Ricky would have the tackle bags out at training this week after the Raiders missed 60 tackles against the Roosters.

With the Dolphins back at home and not too impacted by Origin selection, they should be able to write the ship.

Head-to-head prediction: Dolphins

Betting tip: Kaeo Weekes anytime try scorer

Sydney Roosters vs North Queensland Cowboys Prediction

Sunday, June 2nd, 4:05 PM AEST, Allianz Stadium

This one has another big Roosters score written all over it, doesn’t it?

The Chooks can’t stop scoring this season – putting on another near half-century against the Raiders. Maintaining their average of nearly 42 points per game over the past month.

While Trent Robinson will have to dip into his reserves after being hit hard by Origin selections, he will still have James Tedesco at his disposal after he was controversially not selected by Blues coach Michael Maguire.

Could it leave Teddy in a mood? The poor Cowboys if that’s the case. He promises it isn't personal.

The Cowboys continued their winning ways against the struggling Tigers last week, banking the pair of must-win games in recent weeks and continuing their great form at home.

But now traveling to Sydney without Val Holmes, Tualangi, Dearden, Cotter, Robson, and Nanai…. It might prove a bridge too far.

Head-to-head prediction: Roosters

Betting tip: James Tedesco 2+ tries

Brisbane Broncos – Bye

The shock loss to the Titans has sent them back to the pack. They’d be crossing everything they have so that they don’t cop any injuries to their stars in Origin. They will need them all for a big second half of the year.

South Sydney Rabbitohs – Bye

Rejoice Bunnies fans! You can’t lose this week!

Manly Sea Eagles – Bye

Coming into the bye on the doorstep of the top eight. It’s not a bad place to be in, but they know they have plenty more to give in the second half of the year. They’d be praying for no more serious injuries.

Melbourne Storm – Bye

The bye week will do them the world of good. Their stars are off playing Origin, but the break gives Craig Bellamy enough time to go to work and devise another master plan. They’re right in the thick of it again this year.

Gold Coast Titans – Bye

The Titans rollercoaster hits pause. They had a stunning high last week when they got over the Broncos, but now they have to sit for a week. Take stock and look forward to a big second half of the year.

NZ Warriors – Bye

What a stunning pair of wins for the Wahs to get the season back on track. Unfortunately, they have the bye now to halt the momentum, but at least they can have a little break and get some players back.

West Tigers – Bye

Rejoice Tigers fans! You can’t lose this week!
