Newcastle Knights vs Melbourne Storm Prediction - Round 19 2025
10/07/2025|Joel Caine|NRL Expert Predictions & Tips
Just a few days after State of Origin Game III the Melbourne Storm will travel to the Hunter valley to take on the Knights, most likely without all of their rep stars.

As it stands, Stefano Utoikamanu is the only player set to feature in Wednesday night’s decider that has been named to backup here.

That doesn’t mean he won’t be joined by others, however. While Xavier Coates has been left out of the squad entirely and as a result won’t back up, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Trent Loiero have all been named in the reserves and are a chance.

We fully expect Munster to give this one a miss and instead spend more time with his family after the tragic passing of his father earlier in the week, but Grant and Loiero should feature if they come through the decider unscathed.

As for the Knights, they’ll have to make do without their two best attacking weapons in Kalyn Ponga and Fletcher Sharpe, who both find themselves in the infirmary at the moment.

Here are the full team lists for both sides, as well as betting tips for the H2H, first try scorer, and over/under markets. This is our Knights vs Storm prediction.

Knights vs Storm Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Knights get a tough welcome back to life in the NRL after their week off, with the Melbourne Storm waiting at the door in round 19.

The Storm survived a serious scare sans their Origin stars on the road to the Cowboys last week and will be hoping to welcome as many of them back this week as possible.

Again, that all depends on how the dust settles post Origin III. Their opponents the Knights have saved a little face in recent weeks, oscillating between winning and losing over the past six weeks for a 3-3 record that sees them up to 13th.

Still, the Storm are favourites for it all, for a reason. We’re tipping them to see this one out in style.

Betting tip: Melbourne Storm.

First Try Scorer Prediction

The undisputed king of the first week of Try July, we’re backing Nick Meaney to have more meat pies to celebrate in this one.

When he wasn’t ‘swimming’ or mimicking ‘aura farming’ Tik Tok trends, Nick Meaney was filling in at fullback for the Storm and scoring a couple of clutch tries in the process. He’s our pick to open the scoring at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Betting tip: Nick Meaney.

Over/Under Prediction

The kings of the unders when it comes to total match points in 2025, Newcastle and points seemingly don’t mix this season.

Eight of Newcastle's last 10 home matches have gone under the total match points line and unless Melbourne want to do all the heavy lifting themselves, we can see that becoming nine from 11.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
